While driving along, my car started to make a metal scraping sound. Turns out that one of the fuel tank straps and half of the shield were rusted and broken off and the fuel tank and what was left of the shield were resting on the driveshaft. If I had driven much further I wonder if the friction and heat generated from the remaining tank shield riding on the driveshaft may have caused a fire and/or explosion?
This is a potentially dangerous situation. Why isn’t this a recall?
