OK so I take my 2002 Ford Escape to the dealership to get my Air Bag Light Fixed along with a couple of other problems total cost over a $1000.( Air Bag light $500 Plus )

Repair done or so I am told, drive for a couple of months and the light comes on again, back to the dealership, give them their due, they fix it for Free this time, or so they tell me.

Off I go a happy chap until last week, guess what, you got it, the light comes on again, back to the dealership. This time they tell me it's a different reason the light is coming on, it's the passenger side sensor and they will fix it at a cost of $300, that's the cost of the part, I can have labour Free. Bull Sh*t !!!

Needless to say I will not be taking my car to them again. I would rather give my local one man garage $500 to do the job. By the way the Dealership is Sames Ford of Bastrop Texas.

Escape XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

I just returned from the dealership 10 minutes ago from getting my fuel pump replaced and the entire ride home the airbag light was flashing. I have had the escape for 3 years now and that never happened. I tried turning the car on and off but that didn't work. I called the dealership and they tried telling me that the light was on when the vehicle got towed in. I know it wasn't because I tried turning the car on yesterday before the tow truck arrived at my house. Get one thing fixed and another thing breaks. If that light is flashing is the airbag even going to work if I get in a major accident? I'm buying a Honda next car.

Escape XLT 3.0L

The airbag light comes on and stays on shortly after car has been running. I have seen this issue reported regularly on other complaint sites for Ford Escapes. Ford doesn't think this is their problem either. I don't know if this is a bad sensor or if my airbag doesn't work.

Escape ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

I took my Escape to the Ford dealer they charged me 75.00 dollars for checking it and said they would have to order a connector kit that would be 250.00 tax and all to fix it. I checked your web sight when i got back home and found the one about checking the wire on the passanger side and wiggling it and it worked.

THANKS

Escape XLS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,256 miles

I bought this vehicle new and from day one the Airbag lights come on every time there is the least little piece of paper under the seat - very annoying to say the least. Then last October the light came on and would not go off though nothing under seat. Dealer in North Carolina replaced wiring (which they said was burnt up) at a cost of $426.85. Then only 4 months later the light is on again. The problem is that I am now in Florida so I can't just take it back to the same dealer and since I don't have another $425 the light remains on. The airbag light has now been on for almost 3 months. Otherwise this has been a great vehicle but boy it is a shame that they don't stand behind their product once the warranty is over when there is an obvious manufacturing issue. There really should be a recall issued for this problem.

Escape XLS 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,500 miles

I bought this SUV used and I do love everything about it,but I am very concerned about the safety of this problem. I used all the money I had just to get the truck, and the light was not on when I bought it, but within a few days it was on. I took it to the dealership and they said that the pretenser needed replacing at $475. I could not afford that so 2 years later I still have not had it fixed. The dealer said that in an accident the airbags may not deploy. I have called the Ford company and said that if I am hurt in an accident, because of the airbags not deploying because I can't afford to pay $500,MY Family will sue Ford. I don't think that I should have to be hurt or die, just because I can't afford $500.

$450 to replace the airbag cables. Otherwise the airbags won't deploy during a crash. I'm hoping for a recall soon so I can get my money back.

I only had this suv a month when the air bag light came on. A week later I hear an awful noise in the front end. Two days later the driver side window won't roll up. Unfortunately, I bought this vehicle as is!!!!! I have only made one payment and there is no telling what it will cost to fix.

Escape

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,000 miles

I bought the vehicle used with 30,000 miles on it and soon after the airbag light came on. I took it to the dealership and they "cleaned the connectors in the seat belts" and charged me around $60. The light stayed off for a couple of months, but then came back on. Over the last 2 years, it has gone off and came back on randomly. I finally got irritated of seeing that stupid light flashing and took it to a different dealership. They told me that the seat belt sensors where bad and needed to be replaced & told me if that light was on, the airbags would not deploy in an accident. I haven't had many more problems out of it, but safety is a big issue.

Escape LT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

This is the forth time this has happened. Each time it is one day in the shop and $250. There is defintely something wrong with the escape air bags pretensior. The first two times the dealer fixed it and the third time they said it wasn't covered and I had to pay for it now the fourth time and the dealer said the car is out of warranty and I am again on my own. I have two payments left on the damn thing and it has been a good car but it wouldn't take much for me to trade it in. How many more times will it break before Ford gets the message!!!!!
