Escape XLT 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,681 miles

My twin and I bought it at 88000 kms used from a friends grandmother that didn't drive it much hence the low kms. Less than 6 months go by and we feel a vibration at approx. 80 kms per hour and with every week it got worse and worse. We finally stopped driving it due to the vibration and had it towed to a tranny shop. The tow truck driver said he makes his living off of Fords and the tranny shop said they do at least 2 escapes a week. The torque converter was gone and tranny was running short of life. We doubled the purchase price getting this work done. Apparently it takes 8 hours for a shop to just get to the tranny. They replaced the torque converter with a refurbished one and did a soft overhaul of the tranny and installed a shift kit into it to prevent problems down the road. Had I known this before I bought it I wouldn't have even considered it. But the worst was yet to come though due to the front grille saying FORD - fix or repair daily. It has really lived up to its name and we have done exactly that and put over 12000$ worth of parts into it but that is for another complaint.

Escape XLT 3.0 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,000 miles

How annoying!! I bought this vehicle used at 69,672 miles and am now noticing a serious vibration at certain speeds. Just holding on to the steering wheel will put my hands to sleep. Am curious to know if the transmission was ever replaced. Didn't find out til after I bought the car it had two previous owners in four years, maybe they knew something about it that I didn't.

Escape XLS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 230,000 miles

Will never buy another north american built car, all vehicles I've had in last 20 years were substandard. Plymouth voyager had front end problems that were more than a pain in the ass. Buick LeSabre, besides having a comfy ride, was the car from hell, trunk lid wouldn't latch, headlights wouldn't shut off, could turn ignition switch off and take key out and car would still run, had electrical problems...

Then the Escape, motor went at 75000 miles, transmission #1 went at 50000 miles, for transmission #2,bearing caused vibration at 40mph, shot transmission. Then gas peddle stuck and on and on! Toyota or Nissan next time!

Vibration occurs when going through certain speeds. Dealer reprogramed the transmission once, but problem came back when over the warranty. Is there a solution ? Has anyone else had this problem ? I talked with one Escape owner who had to have the transmission replace within the first year. Hoping to hear from someone.
