Display shows door ajar even though all doors are properly secure including the rear hatch. Does not matter whether doors are locked or not.

A couple of months ago my door ajar light came on. I checked all the doors and hood. Everything was fine. A few weeks later the light came on again and this time beeped. Same thing, got out and checked all the doors. Nothing. A few weeks ago the light came on and started beeping and did not stop. The interior lights also started blinking. Took it to a shop and was advised that there was a sensor on the doors that was bad. Would cost $400 or $500 per door to fix it. I advised that per information I have been seeing on several blogs about the Ford Escape, fixing the sensor on the doors was not always fixing the problems that these cars were having. Asked if we could just disconnect the light so it would not keep telling me doors were ajar when they weren't and was told the way Ford built this car made it impossible to disconnect anything like that. The car would not start because all those type things were wired together. So here I am with a car that I have to disconnect the battery every night so the battery does not go dead because of a STUPID door ajar light that is malfunctioning. Why is it that this particular make and model car is having so many electrical issues but Ford refuses to fix it. Does someone really have to get seriously injured or killed before someone realizes they have a problem. So much for Ford Quality!!!!!!

I have researched this back and forward and found this is a common problem with Escapes starting 2012 to current and the Dealership have charges up to $350 to try to fix at one time but never really fixed for long. I have this problem when parked or driving. doors locked or unlocked. There are so many reports I cannot believe there are not more options. Or a better more cost efficient ways. I wrote programs for computers in 1985 ish. We had to test and re test before we put it out. Can this please be looked into?

Shows right rear door ajar, door is fully closed and latched. Interior lights stay on for several minutes. Factory alarm constantly going off because it thinks someone is opening the door when vehicle is locked. Because of this, the neighbors hate me. Internet wisdom says to spray WD-40 into latch mechanism. This does not work.

Not long after I got this Ford Escape the door ajar light kept coming on. No amount of troubleshooting helped me figure out how to fix it. The dash cluster is so basic it won't tell you where the malfunctioning door is located and it'll just constantly twitch and ding as you drive. I've had my alarm go off randomly so I could never lock my doors and I had to barely shut my driver door just to get it to shut the hell up. That's only the beginning of issues with this vehicle. It's the worst vehicle I've ever owned. Stay away from these things or you'll be dropping $4000 dollars in repairs even if you baby it and keep up with maintenance.
