back window exploded

All I can say is I'm very upset... Thank God no children were hurt this morning. I had just dropped my son off at school and was sitting in my car while my gas was pumping and then BOOM!!!! Many kids were stopping in the gas station on their way to school and nearly got blasted with glass. So upset! My 5,3,and 6 week old could have been in the car(2 of which are rear facing). My front drivers side window was cracked & the car was off... WHY has the manufacture not made a recall yet. This single momma can't handle anymore expenses this Christmas :(

Update from Oct 4, 2016: My brother got a new back window from the junk yard on his way home. They said this was a common replacement!

So the left back rear window motor just breaks and sitting at the light the window slams almost all the way into the door well. I was quoted $150 for repairs. It was the first of many things to go wrong.

Also, the front windshield chips and cracks like it is made of egg shells. For an SUV I expected tougher glass.

I parked my Escape about 8:30 this morning in front of my house, all was fine. I work third shift. When I went out to leave, I found my rear window (tailgate) was gone. Glass all over the road and inside my vehicle. This was 8:00pm, parked in front of the house, I assumed someone had broken the window. I talked with neighbors and asked if anyone had seen or heard anything, or anyone near my vehicle. No one had seen anything. One neighbor reported hearing a loud crash at approximately 7:20pm, a few moments after her husband had left to run to the store. She called him to check. When her husband returned he came over while I was cleaning up all the glass and told me that he had seen no one or nothing when he left. It was 70 degrees, vehicle had been parked for 12 hours, and this is what I came outside to find. The cost to replace, estimated at $368. Happened upon this site and found that the window can just explode at any time. Just another problem with the 2005 Ford Escape. Last year I had the major problem with the Converters, Plugs, Wires, to the tune of $3600. Ford Escape, TOTAL LEMON!

Went to work at about 7:45am one morning and had no problems with the windshield. At about 9am, I was called down by my office's front desk to tell me my back windshield was gone. They watched surveillance tapes and we're not able to see any damage being done to the window. Glass was all over the ground outside and inside bed of the trunk. No coverage for the window was offered so replacement window and repair fees all came out of pocket.

My Escape's rear window just exploded out of the blue. I read on other complaints that this can be caused by the defrost on the rear window. I DID NOT have the defroster on. What gives? How can so many people with Ford SUVs have the same problem & Ford has never issued a recall for people's safety!! If I had my son in the car glass would have hit him.

Very upset that Ford has had complaints since late 90s & ALL of its 2000 models. To this day they still haven't issued a recall to insure the consumer is not only safe, but satisfied. Very disappointed, now I am out $300 bucks ( low end price). Safelite really rapes you on their prices. Do not get your windows fixed there. Most people have a $500 deductible so you can't even claim it on insurance. Worst part about this story is it's snowing outside. Going to have a long cold ride home till I get this fix tomorrow. 😰😡👎

I drove my escape to an appointment and left the vehicle parked for about a half hour when I returned I noticed that the the back windscreen was all over the parking lot it shot out about 6 ft. I'm more concerned that in the future no one will get hurt from this impact as this windscreen literally exploded all over the parking lot. There was one thing I noticed about these ford escapes if you are driving and you open the back window it Hums so loud that you have to open the front window or it could blow your ear drum out I truly believe there is a problem with cabin pressure.

I contacted ford about my problem but received very little help with this matter I was told they would record the information I gave them and that in the future if there would be a recall they would contact me!!! You Think!!!

Not sure what to do at this point but I guess I have to absorb the cost of the repair the estimate for glass and install over $600.00 well if anyone knows some way to deal with ford and this issue please post something.

Thanks

Ford.......Found On Road Dead. Friggin Old Rotten Dodge. Lol

The car was parked , then the window simply shattered. At first we thought someone shot at it, but not a sole was in sight. Bizarre-- until we checked on the internet and found a list of others complaining about the same thing.

Shame on you Ford--

Escape Limited V6

Driving to work early in the morning. Stopped at a stop sign. ( Thankfully ) Heard a LOUD noise and felt something hitting me. To my surprise, I looked around and there was no one else around. My rear window EXPLODED!!! Glass EVERYWHERE. My husband is looking into getting it fixed at the moment and he is ENRAGED!!!!!

I loved my Escape but have decided that since there is nothing Ford will do to ensure the safety of its drivers, then I am NOT going to be one of them!

Shame on Ford for not "doing the right thing" and re-calling these rear windows. I am SHOCKED that there are SO many complaints and SURPRISED that there hasn't been more serious injuries.

I was driving to work, early in the morning and still dark, when I heard a loud explosion. I continued to drive, looking in the rear view mirror trying to see what happened. I pulled into the parking garage and parked my car only to confirm that the entire window had broken into little pieces all over inside of my car!

I called Ford and they wont cover any of the expense because its past the warranty. I have a $500 deductible for insurance so I'm going to be eating this PAIN in the GLASS !!!

I found this web site and had to share...
