Escape XLT V6 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 71,000 miles

REALLY??? I just replaced the transmission 13,000 miles ago! I can't afford this bucket of bolts.

Coming off a freeway off-ramp something locked up for a split second, felt like I hit a boulder! after that it sounded like a bucket of metal pieces being shaken. Turns out, it was! Gears were in pieces, even the case wasn't salvageable. In the weeks prior to failure, I heard a noise that sounded like a bearing going bad and a rattle from under the car. When put up on a lift, no noises.

I hope the differential isn't next. It's the only major thing in the drivetrain that hasn't failed yet.

I was driving my truck when I heard a strange noise so, I took it to the local garage and they put it up on the hoist and found that my transfer case had blown out. They said that it blew from the inside out. I was not impressed. This was the second big thing to go wrong with my SUV.

Escape XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 69,700 miles

Ok, I have a 2006 Ford Escape, which i truly enjoy as a vehicle. About 2 months ago, while going through some very difficult family problems, I noticed a noise while driving. Due to everything that happened, I wasn't able to get it checked. The vehicle was Certified Pre-Owned by Ford with a 6 yr 100k warranty on it. It currently has 69,000 mi.

I got it checked by a local Mieneke center, and they found that the transfer case, when they looked inside, had metal in the fluid. Not Good.

I brought it to a Ford dealership, and they are going to "diagnose" it themselves, then determine if it is under warranty. Well......the warranty expired 1 month ago, due to time. I personally think that Ford should cover this. What does everyone else think?

Escape LT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,710 miles

Ford dealership offered to discount the cost of the part by about $400.00 but their total repair bill would still have been at least $ 300.00 CDN more than my independent mechanic charged me. My independent technician found a 2009 pre-owned part. By offering a discount on the part, Ford admitted to a liability, when I argued for a larger discount they stated that goodwill only goes so far, after that...suck it up buddy. A totally unreliable and irresponsible company if you ask me!!

Escape LS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Ok , Ford Escapes have a problem with the transfer case and the seals. They need to step up and refund the people who have had to deal with this. Ours was 3 years old, 40,000 miles and the transfer case blows up on the inside!!!!!!!!!!! Please. I was told the seal has a problem, well if they do , they should've recalled them , get the seals tightened, fixed, etc. so that it doesn't lead to a major repair if you don't get your vehicle service at a Ford dealer. This should be taken care of by Ford. My repair shop, the next few weeks, had to replace another transfer case on an Ford Escape with only 46,000 miles on it. Ridiculous.
