Escape XLT 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

Ford Escape started leaking oil at near 100k miles. Small leaks, never enough to make the engine oil level low between oil changes, but it is messy on the floor of the garage, and leads to burning oil smells when the car has been running for a while.

Escape XLT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

I have had this oil leak for some time, it runs down the engine on to the bottom front of the oil pan. It wasn't until I started noticing spots on my garage floor. It started out with a very small drop. I had the gaskets, seals replaced but obviously that wasn't the problem. The leak is more complex. From what I now understand it may be a leaking timing chain cover. This oil leak is common to the Taurus/Sable, Fusion/Milan, Jaguar S, Lincoln LS, and Mazda 6 models with the 3.0 Duratec V6 along with the Escape/MPV. The upsetting part of this whole ordeal is Ford was aware of this problem. I took my SUV to the dealer ship for all its routine maintenance as well as regular oil changes. This leak has been going on for some time and no one said a thing to me, when they knew all along there were problems. Shame on FORD.
