problem #1

Jan 012007

Escape LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

The factory settings for the alignment create extreme tire wear that makes the tires extremely noisy. I have had the alignment checked multiple times, and it is always within factory specifications. This is a known problem with many (all?) Ford Escapes, and Ford had no official solution for the problem. Tires on this vehicle will last about 35,000 miles and then will have to be replaced because of the tire wear. It is too bad that Ford put out a vehicle with such a huge and obvious defect. There seems to be no solution to this problem, other than buying new tires, or possibly installing an aftermarket suspension.
