I told my daughter to buy this Ford Escape because this used car salesman told me what a great deal it was. Ever since my husband passed away, these people see me coming. We paid all the money we had because she had to get to work at a fast-food place at 5am to make the biscuits. If she misses work, her close to full time hours go down to near nothing. After a couple of months, the alternator goes bad. Replaced. Couldn't afford a real mechanic. Almost immediately, battery light comes on and battery dies.

I took it to a real mechanic. Driving out of his parking lot, something is still wrong. Some kind I bolt he said. Hundreds of dollars later, told it was fixed. Worked for maybe 2 days. Battery constantly going bad. Tomorrow we are taking it to another real mechanic with money we managed to save since last time. Now we have used up all the roadside assistance calls. I am reading all about how I should not have advised her to buy this vehicle and we have no way of getting another.

The people responsible for the design of this car should be ashamed. Some of us don't have the money to go to a dealership. Now three women don't have road-side assistance. Last year they found my daughters childhood friend's remains on the property of a local college after she was missing for almost 2 years. Do these people really know what their greedy actions can lead to, or do they even care?

Escape Limited 3.0L

ok, first of all I was a state certified auto mechanic for over 15 years, and a ford parts counterman for the last 30 years. been involved in the auto business since I could drive just so that everyone kind of knows what I am talking about. have an 07 escape and bought it new, and I have taken the altmost care of it. as a matter of fact I had no problems until this one. about a month ago I had the alternator go bad. checked voltage not charging. I knew the job was a pain to do but its nothing I couldn't handle. bought ford reman alternator and installed. after install developed rough idle and all lights in the car flicker. well still not right, returned under warranty and got another, installed again. same problem, light comes on charges up to 16.2 volts and turns on battery light. replace battery, replace alternator pigtail, cleaned all grounds, ran overlay on harness for alternator pigtail, checked fusible links, fuses, no trouble codes in PCM..problem is it charges all over the place any where from 12.5 to 16.2. no rhyme or reason. when coming to a stop light start to flicker and real rough idle. most of the time its below 13.2 volts at other times it stays normal and light do not flicker. I talked to no less the 5 ford trained factory techs on this and they all are stumped. could poss. be a pcm problem but I don't have the 1000.00 or plus to fix it. searched all over the internet for 4 weeks know and its a very common problem on the escape but no one has an actual fix, other then keep replacing alternator....don't know if I will ever buy another ford....I work for them but how can I support them with problems like this.....
