The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, he was able to continue to drive; however, the failure reoccurred while exiting the highway. The contact stated that the vehicle would fail to go into gear while attempting to shift into drive and depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle would start but would not move. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

While driving in major traffic, I was trying to change lanes and put my foot on the pedal to accelerate, my pedal was frozen in place and I could not get it moved. My car started slowing down. Then within a few seconds my pedal popped and I could accelerate again. This has happened four times each time, the pedal froze longer. The last time, was in April on a Sunday and my gas pedal froze again. I was in major traffic and vehicles were driving fast behind me as a light had just changed to green. I tried to accelerate but my gas pedal was stuck, I was driving by a garden nursery (business) which has as huge dirt driveway, I skidded into the lot to get out of the way to avoid being hit. I would have definitely been hit if I had not of turned. My speed had completely stopped. In this instance, my gas pedal stayed frozen for about an hour. I kept putting my car in reverse to try to get some momentum as I could not get any speed going forward. Finally, I turned my car off for about 20 minutes as I was not making any progress and tried again. After all this time, I tried to drive in the driveway and I got a little speed. I drove home and never made it to my destination for the day. I contacted the local Ford dealership and asked them about this problem and if there was a recall. They said there was not a problem and not aware and no recall existed.

2007 Ford Escape - gas pedal came undone - local Ford dealership checked it out and said no problem. 6 months later same thing and they have now ordered a new part. Is is usual for the gas pedal to come undone.
