Escape XLT 2.3L

In cold weather the gas pedal sticks, I have to push it twice. after 50 km when the engine is warm it is not so bad.

My wife is scared to drive this car so I had to buy her another one, I still drive the Escape.

I replace already the throttle body. It was a used one but the problem is still there.

The accelerator cable broke while my wife was driving the car. Pissed her off never mind the inconvenience of not having her car for 2 days. Ford had to order the part in. On the plus side, the towing ($77) and cost to fix ($200) was covered on extended warranty. My mechanic and others I've spoke to were really surprised at this issue. Over all, she is very happy with this vehicle, no other real issues since owning it from new. So just be aware...

The accelerator pedal sticks and gets hard to push causing a dangerous situation. The pedal stuck all the way to the floorboard and pulling on the cable in the engine compartment made it return to the up position.

Ford Motor Company has built a dangerous and potentially deadly package with their 2008 Escape 2.3L I4 engine. A mandatory recall must be enacted on their design and a safer replacement design provided to the vehicle owners. This sticking pedal issue is also prevalent on a 2004 Ford Focus we own with the same 2.3L engine.

Starting beginning of 2010 my Throttle began sticking, at first only in the morning when it was cold outside. I reported it to the Dealership at which point I was told to "just let the car warm up". Due to the 20 degree weather I chalked it up as just that. The throttle continued sticking and has now come to the point of which it is extremely dangerous to drive my vehicle. I have called the dealership approx 6 different times and received the same answer about the same problem the last time was just yesterday. The guy in the service department knew exactly what the issue was and very rudely said "yeah the 2008's are having this problem but there is nothing we can do because they are out of warranty." So prior to me calling this jerk I was taking my daughter to school. I live in the greater Seattle area and have to use the freeway.. In traffic I was unable to push the throttle and was stuck sitting there with everyone around me doing at least 70mph! It took me about 15 minutes of pushing the throttle with all my strength to get it depressed. Which then lurched us into oncoming traffic and could have killed us! With my daughter and I crying and shaking I continued the rest of the way without removing mt foot from the throttle, and using my right foot to press the brake. It was horrifying. I have read other blogs and I am not the only person who has had these issues. This is a life threatening problem and Ford needs to address it.

Over the winter gas peddle would stick...thought it was cold because it only happened in early morning. Well this summer...peddle drops to the floor in the middle of traffic. Had to get it towed on a Friday evening and did not get it back until wed afternoon at the cost of 200 dollars. Missed three days of work. this is the second time i have problems with my two year old car. I have owned two cars previous and never had to take it in except for regular service. this is also my first ford...never again. if im having to take it in in two years(passed warrenty btw)...then what is in store for me in the long run??

I was on the highway and I heard a pop. The gas pedal felt non-existent. Had no power. Thank goodness it didn't stick in acceleration mode. Thank goodness my brakes worked. The Ford dealer where I live has been good. Parts and labor was going to be $146.00. After I mentioned they should pay for the fix, they said Ford will cover the part. I will need to pay $50.00.
