Escape XLT 2.0L

A car not 4 years old has a rusted out exhaust. They want me to pay for it and to make matters worse the exhaust pipe is on back order and I have to drive a car with exhaust leaking into the passenger department.

My 20th ford, and I just took delivery of a 2012 ford focus. Did I make a mistake?
