My car jerks and stalls out while in gear and is slow to restart. No dashboard lights come on, I have had 3 different opinions as to the cause, I do not drive it at present, unless absolutely necessary. I just found this site or there would already be several complaints, it happens every time I stop the car or slow way down for several seconds. Usually at a stop sign, or some one ahead of me is turning, or stopped in traffic for some reason. It also happens when some one is crossing in a cross walk and I need to slow down or stop. I have been almost hit, but usually I just get honking horns and some times gestures, most often the finger. People get irritated when I don't move when the light changes. I can't afford to have it fixed and find out it's the wrong fix. It was my husbands car, and he use to take care of these things, but the day it first stalled I was coming home from his funeral. I don't have him to advise me. I have a car to pay for that doesn't run and I can't fix, and everyday it's my reminder that my support is gone. It has doubled my grief. I am told it is a common problem with my make of vehicle but there are not enough people complaining, so Ford won't fix it.

I have only 47000 miles on this vehicle. Just paid it off 2 months ago. Check engine light comes on and vehicle start revving RMPS and jerking forward. Finally not going into gear at all. There was no indication of anything wrong. It was all a sudden. Having it towed to Ford. only 47000 miles. I hardly drove this vehicle.

Rebuilding a transmission at 67,712 miles is really crappy. Will never buy a Ford product again.

This problem comes up every now and then. I notice if I slow down to make a turn, and then hit the gas, it "kicks" as if someone hit me from the back, and then runs fine.

They finaly found the problem!!!! I bought my 2008 limited V6 Escape in November of 2008 it was former lease and had 29,000 mi on it. Within 2 months I first felt the problem same as everybody has written jerks into gear, trans feels like it's slipping, fells like you are popping a clutch on a manual trans etc. I too took it to the dealer who found nothing and to make it worse nobody who drove this car could feel any problems like I did. I thought I was going crazy. At the time of purchase I also bought the Ford extended warranty covered everything up to 75000 mi. Last month I hit 74000 mi and decided to take it to Salem Ford in Salem NH. to get it checked out again cause it seemed to be getting worse. I told them do go over the transmission I didn't care what the cost of diagnosis was cause my warranty was up in 1000 mi. I wanted a statement from them that the tran was fine so if it blew up a 1000 mi after my warranty ran out I had a record to show that I had it checked out by Ford techs 2 times and they found nothing, this was so I might have a leg to stand on if this happened with Ford and get some comp from them. Well guess what the found the problem a cracked direct clutch hub and a 2nd gear belt that was screwed up. They tore it down and fixed cost me only my deductible cost Ford a couple of grand.I am so glad that I'm not crazy and if you folks out there are looking for a reason for this problem next time they tell you they can't find any code wrong with the computer or they can't find or feel anything tell them to check the direct clutch. Good luck.

We are getting ready for the 3rd trip to the dealer on this problem. Every time we slow down for a light or if someone is turning in front of us, we get this jerk or lunge when you apply foot on the accelerator like you have been hit from behind

A couple weeks ago my car started having problems shifting into gear once I start to drive. It seems to lunge when I go from 1st to 2nd gear. It has made my maintenance required light pop on and now I have tried to fix a part on it and it did not help. I replaced the shifter solenoid which is actually a whole computer, hoping that was the problem and it made it a tiny bit better and not lunge as hard but did not fix the problem. now I am going to try scanning it and seeing if my computer relays anything. hopefully I wont have to rebuild a transmission like I have seen in all the other complaints.
