Damn there should be a recall on this! 9 years-old car and you get the rear shock mounts rusted through!
I ordered the auxiliary shock mountings and installed them to feel safe again, but still, I shouldn't have structural rust problems on a car of that age...

It was rusted completely through. The dealer wasn't to happy about it being under warranty. It is already rotting through again along with the other side along with around the sunroof.

Passenger rear wheel well developing paint that was bubbling up. RUSTING. Car is 6 years old. No rust on any of the other wheel wells. Payed the money to have the panel cut out and new metal welded in. Looked great for about 2 months. Body is now developing rust outside that area on the right read panel. Planning on driving the car into the ground (not long considering the rate of rust), Slim chance considering a Ford for my next car...

I discovered the rust when I washed the vehicle on Dec 14 2014. The wheel well flange was bent down a little. Still had paint on it. I got a little hammer and a rag to protect the paint. I taped it once and it broke off. Made a hole about 2" long after peeling away the rusted metal. I couldn't believe a 5-1/2 year old car that was always washed and dried by hand would have rust like that.
The Ford dealer said my rust through warranty expired in April. They gave me a customer care number at Ford. They said they may be able to help. I called and was eventually told they would not cover it. I was pissed. I told them I am no longer going to buy any Ford products and my car has devalued much more than a well taken care of 2009 vehicle should. The Ford rep. also told me to hold on to any repair receipts in case Ford had a recall in the future. I've had at least 5 Fords and my father was a Ford guy most of his for life. Very disappointed.

I hate rust to begin with. But I saw it was a design flaw with sound deadening foam that was sprayed behind the wheel well to decrease road noise. But it also captures moisture and causes it to rust from the back side of the shell well.
