This Escape has been to the shop MULTIPLE times for the same problem! It would stall out while driving it. Would stall at a stop sign, stall while driving on the highway with my 6 year old son in the back seat trying to get to the side of the road without crashing! Would come to stop sign and the car would furiously jerk and shake so hard felt like it would fall apart in my hands unless I threw it into neutral. NO check engine light would come on until about a month of this!! Took to the shop several times. They changed the fuel filter and fuel pump because the "ratios" were so far off on it it was sending multiple codes. Did it again within 10 miles of driving home. Back to the shop, another $90 to run codes again, this time SEVERAL codes on emissions and such. They said they couldn't fix it, they had MULTIPLE Escapes in for the SAME ISSUES and could not get them to get fixed properly, even after replacing SEVERAL parts on them! I have spent THOUSANDS (yes, THOUSANDS) of dollars on replacement parts, towings, rental cars, etc to fix my Escape. PLEASE someone help me and let me know what is going on with these vehicles! Today I went to yet another shop, they stated that they thought these issues would have been RECALLED by Fords by now, since they, too, have tried to correct these error codes over and over and over with the Escapes. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE FORD!!!!!! WHY ARE YOU NOT RECALLING AND FIXING THESE VEHICLES WITH YOUR FAULTY EQUIPMENT? ARE YOU WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO BE KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS OR WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I just discovered this forum, otherwise, I would have reported this stalling problem at least 2 dozen times. I purchased my 2009 Escape new. Like a fool I expected it to provide reliable service like the 1991 Ford Explorer that I drove from 1991 to 2009. Was I ever wrong! Thank God for Extended Warranties. Ford Dealership has replaced Throttle Body Assembly at least twice and performed an computer program upgrade on some component that I can't remember. The dealership has been helpful and courteous, BUT, UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES I WILL NEVER EVER, BUY ANYTHING LIKE THIS PIECE OF JUNK AGAIN!!! I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE WITH EARS TO BE VERY CAUTIOUS. CALLING 1-800-392-FORD WAS A WASTE OF MY TIME AND ONLY TICKED ME OFF!

My ford escape shuts down while driving! I hate it so much. It's happened so many times now. I've brought it to a mechanic and they have replaced the fuel module. Still when i drive it, it shuts down and needs a tow back to him. The car just starts shutting down. I have no idea what to do HELPPPP!

I have been having this power loss problem with my Escape for years and am getting worried that I will get killed one day. July 31, 2014, Ford did a recall 13817 Throttle Body PCM calibration update but my Escape is still intermittently shutting down on the high way and in the city. The trouble light does not come on, therefore no notice that it's going to lose power. It loss all power twice today and I just about got killed. I was in the middle of a very busy intersection and my vehicle just loss all power. Then ten minutes down the road it happened again. A month ago I was driving down the highway at 100Km and the same thing happened. I am very frightened and frustrated with this issue and would like to know if there is a solution.

About 15 minutes after pulling out of my drive way onto the main road my car stopped or instantly changed to a slow drift. I drifted downhill to the shoulder and stopped. After about 10 minutes I turned the ignition and it started again. I thought it was just a freak thing. However, as of date I have had the same incident occurred three times.

So many complaints about the hesitation while driving! Not safe to be in . almost had accident because while pulling out into traffic the car didn't move when I hit the gas and had to slam on brakes in case it did take off! It's suicide taking car to market, yet ford can't find issue! I've had transmission rebuilt, new brakes, new exhaust, axle seals replaced 4 times. What else can I do?

I was on my way home from work and the car started missing, I thought it was going to stall out. I nursed it home (no engine light on at this point) and called my dealer who told me to call Ford roadside assistance. We called them and they argued with us about where we lived (like we don't know). Ten minutes later they called back and informed us that we would have to pay $100.00 for the car to be towed. I refused and called the tow driver directly. We had to drive 4 miles up the road in order for him to pick up the car.
The dealer said third coil was burnt and he replaced it.

I bought my 2009 Ford Escape with 120,000 miles on it. I started having issues shortly after I bought the car with it stalling out when idling/stopped at stop signs/lights. I called Ford to ask if they had any answers, and they said that it was the throttle body. I asked if they were replacing them, and they said yes under extended warranty. I then found out that mine had been replaced just a month before I bought the car. I am still having issues. I have brought it in to Ford, and they can't find anything wrong with it, and neither can any of the local shops because there are no codes coming up. I have had this problem on and off for the past year that I have had this vehicle and it needs to be fixed. This morning it died out as I was pulling out onto the highway. Does anyone have any info on what to look for/change to solve this problem?
