Timing cover keeps leaking oil..
the first time was at about 12k miles, I noticed the serpentine belt dangling underneathe the engine. A belt pulley that was a forged part of the cover had cracked off..repaired by dealer.
worked for about 10 k miles,,,, SAME problem happened AGAIN.. repaired by dealer. The car never ran right again, from mid-December 2010 until March 2011, my car was in the shop being repaired by dealer. (timing checked, coils replaced, etc..) I was told my car was repaired, I'd pick it up, and the CHECK ENGINE light would come back on within 48 hours.. Once, the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on before even leaving the dealership lot!!..
FORD stated and did begin to replace the engine piece by piece, then stated they would have to replace the top half of the engine,,, then after 2 months they stated they would finally replace the entire engine (at 44k miles) ..Car ran fine for about 10 k miles and then the SAME problem happened again,, an oil leak from the timing cover.

While driving my Ford Escape I noticed smoke coming from under the front hood and I immediately pulled over and stopped the engine. I popped open the hood and saw oil all over the passenger side of the engine compartment. I had it towed to my Ford dealer and they determined that part of the front engine cover had broken off (see picture). The dealer put on a new front engine cover and serpentine belt. This was obviously a manufacturing defect but my dealer said that Ford would not cover it since I had just passed over my drive train warranty. End result was that I had to pay for it out of my own pocket. BTW, the dealer did do a great job fixing it.
