I was driving on I35 E in lewisville, tx when the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating, I had been traveling at approx 40 mph in rush hour traffic. The vehicle/engine was still on but I could not continue forward. I exited the highway and glided into a parking lot ( after nearling being killed by a large truck on the service road) the wrench light came on as well as the engine light. I pulled into a parking space and the vehicle started to violently shake. I put in park and turned the vehicle off. I waited a few minutes and started the vehicle with no issues. The vehicle idled fine and I could rev up the engine. I drove around the parking lot with no issues however the check engine light was still on. I tried going onto a residential street and when I accelerated above 20mph the vehicle would no longer accelerate and had to pull over and had the same before mentioned results. I called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed. I called a local Ford dealership and I was advised it was most likely an electronic throttle body issue and they have them come in all the time. This needs to be recalled immediately as this very well could have cause a major accident.

Getting onto the expressway at about 55mph when the cars engine light came on. Shortly after the wrench light came on the car thudded forward and lost power. Very scary, easily could have caused an accident. We were able to start the car immediately after and start going but the car wouldn't make it a mile before losing power again. Next day took it to the dealership to find the part was on back order and it may be weeks before the dealer can get it in. A couple weeks and $525 later we are not happy campers. This should be a safety recall.

Ford Escape approx 40,000 miles. Traveling 50 mph when car lost all acceleration power. Engine still running, had to coast off of the highway. Dash board emblem was the wrench - referred to owners manual which indicated a problem with the power train or throttle. Turned engine off, restarted the car and succesfully traveled the 6 miles to my house. Same evening attempted to drive car to the dealership - 10 miles away....got 1 mile down the highway, car lurched, acceleration lost, engine still running, coasted to side of road, turned of ignition, restarted and successfully drove the mile back to my house. Had car towed on the following day. Electronic throttle body replaced....under extended warranty with $200 deductible.

Drove about an hour away from home, mostly highway. When I got into the city towards the end of the trip, the wrench light came on and the car stopped accelerating. I pulled over and restarted the car and was able to go a few hundred feet before I lost acceleration again. This time the check engine light came on. I pulled over, waited about 10 minutes, restarted the car, and was able to drive the rest of the way (less than a mile). The car was towed to the nearest dealer where it was determined the throttle body needed to be replaced. I am currently on a long waiting list for parts.

On 6/18/13 driving on a 45 mph road slowed to make a turn and lost all power to by 2010 Ford Escape, also the wrench showed up on my dash. I turned it off and back on again and it ran fine. The next day took it to my local dealer in clarion, pa and they couldn't figure out what the problem was. On 7/1/13 I experienced the same problem, driving 45 mph when I experienced complete loss of power. This time the vehicle was sputtering, turned it off & back on but had to give it gas to start. The wrench showed up again. Called the local dealer in clarion, pa and stated I had researched this on the internet & found 21 pages of other people experiencing the same exact problem with the majority having to have the throttle body changed. Also found that NHTSA is investigating the complaints. I don't appreciate it when the dealership does not take the severity of this problem seriously. They stated they would order part but didn't know when it would come in. I called another local dealership & they said they could have the part in 3 days. What's up with that" really don't like driving this vehicle since you never know when it is going to occur. This is definitely a safety issue and feel it should be addressed by Ford. Do we need to have numerous people getting killed before something is done about it"

Driving at highway speed when accelerate failed to engage. Truck was no longer able to accelerate. In other cases when applying breaks care seemed to be trying to accelerate..eventually check engine light came on. Diagnosed as failure of throttle body.

Accelerated to merge into traffic and my 2010 Ford Escape started to act like it was going to stall when I pressed on the gas pedal. Ever time I tried to accelerate it felt like it was "choking" and wanted to stall. I had to put the vehicle in neutral and press on the gas to keep it from stalling. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership and was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. In addition to the fact the throttle body needs to be replaced I am now being told there is a nationwide back order on the part and I will not get the repair completed for 2-3 weeks. I am 1-1/2 months passed warranty with only 26,000 miles and neither Ford nor the dealership will loan me a vehicle while my car sits at the dealership nor will this even be considered warranty work.

2010 Ford Escape V6 AWD - built June 14, 2010 while driving on major local road, vehicle lost almost all power. "wrench" (throttle control/powertrain warning) light came on. Vehicle slowed to a roll with gas pedal providing no acceleration. After coming to a stop vehicle would only accelerate to between 2-4 mph. Vehicle was able to be driven to dealer about a mile away after sitting on shoulder for 15-20 minutes. Dealership diagnosed problem as a failed throttle body and replaced under warranty with a deductible charge. This would have been a dangerous situation had the vehicle been merging, etc. At the time.

On Saturday, June 22, 2013, I drove 2.5 hours North for one of my best friends weddings. I was on the interstate with cruise control set at about 70 mph when suddenly my car lost power. I was in the left lane with a semi behind me. Luckily the semi driver was paying attention and was able to move into the right lane before rear-ending me. I was able to move on the shoulder of the interstate and come to a stop. As I did, my Escape acted as though it was going to die but did not completely. I noticed an open-ended wrench in the bottom left of my instrument panel and my check engine light was on. I turned the car off and looked through the manual to figure out what the wrench light meant. It said throttle control/powertrain. I was running late to begin with so I started freaking out. I turned my Escape back on and everything seemed to be fine. Both lights went off so I put it in drive and got back on the interstate without any more problems. At first I thought maybe it was cruise control going out so I didn't use it the rest of the way. Once I got off the interstate, I stopped at a light and when the light changed I proceeded through it with my Escape stalling as soon as I turned, along with both lights back on. I knew it was something other than the cruise. Once I got to the nearest town, I stopped at autozone and had them test it. Their computer showed tps/throttle body failure. I immediately started doing some research to find this part since autozone doesn't carry it. I was surprised to find out that no one can get this part and Ford has been on back order for quite a few months. After the wedding, I drove back home with my car stalling many more times. Since then, it happens at least once a day, if not more. Twice, my car has stalled in the middle of a very busy highway intersection on my way to work, freaking me out I was going to get hit. Help needed soon!

While driving at 40 mph the car suddenly lost forward motion even though the engine was still running; pressing the accelerator had no affect on the rpms; a wrench symbol appeared in dashboard. I turned the motor off; restarted and was able to turn around but the car stopped again as I was pulling into an intersection from a stopped position. After three more times of stopping and restarting the car, I was able to continue on and drove to the Ford dealer about a mile from the incident. I was told the "wrench symbol" indicated transmission trouble. After their diagnosis I was told we needed a throttle body. The part is on national backorder, and I have now been one week without a car. I was told this has become a major problem everywhere and over 9,000 of this part are on backorder and all are needed to complete repairs. I was also told by the parts dept. That Ford expected to need an additional 14,000 throttle bodies to meet the demand of the failing part. He also told me that the part has been re-engineered from the original factory installed part because of these failures. I have had to rent a vehicle at my own expense.

Driving my 2010 Ford Escape XLT on sr 58 the vehicle began to shake, could not accelerate and the car immediately slowed down to about 3-5mph. I coasted to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. This was a very scary situation. Other vehicles were driving past & beeping, not knowing what was happening. The could have created a dangerous situation. Luckily I focused, went to the side of the road to prevent any accidents. After about 30 minutes, started the vehicle and slowly drove approximately one mile down the road the a Ford dealership. Again while driving, the vehicle started to shake and I could not accelerate. The Ford service dept performed a diagnostic test. The result was a failed throttle body. The service technician said the vehicle was unsafe to drive. And said the Ford parts to fix the vehicle are on a national backorder for 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately, I have to rent a vehicle, very expensive. Ford did not offer a loaner vehicle. Ford needs to have a recall on this part and correct their mistake before multiple fatalities occur. All Ford Escape owners will soon fall victim to this hazard.

This has happened several times now. Driving and all of a sudden my car has no power. No matter how hard the gas pedal is being pushed the car will not move. I have to try to pull over to the side of the road without getting hit. Then I can turn the car off and turn back on and it works decent. The first time it happened I was in the middle of an intersection and could not go anywhere. The last time it happened I was on the freeway. This is a huge problem that needs to be fixed.

Driving my vehicle on a residential street I began to lose power to the gas pedal. My 2010 Ford Escape began to act as though it would stall however all I could do was coast to a side street to get out of the way of traffic behind me. Once in park I noticed the wrench light come on my dashboard. I shut the truck off and restarted to which the light indicator went away and the vehicle acted fine. I had the truck towed to my local dealership where I was told it was the throttle body that needs to be replaced. This part is on national backorder! I will be without my vehicle for possible 30 business days. Ford will only give me a rental for 4 days! why is this not a recall yet? I thank god I was not on the highway with my two small children in the car with me. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed appropriately by Ford.

Wrench light came on while driving car and barely had enough rpms to get off road. Had to pull battery cable off to get car to move. This happened three times to get the car 20 miles to home then trailered to Ford dealer. Said it was a bad TB. The car has also stalled at 0mph and sometimes surges. One time this winter the car surged causing it to hit my tractor and busted bumper cover and fog lamp.

We were driving approximately 60mph on the highway when we suddenly had no more acceleration. The car was still running but when I pressed the gas pedal it didn't give us any go and we started decelerating in the middle of the highway. Thankfully, we were able to quickly pull over to the side of the road to avoid being rear-ended. We turned the truck off, waiting a minute or two and started it back up and had acceleration again for a few miles. This happened over and over again for the remaining 8 or so miles to our house where we were finally able to pull up in front of our house and called our local Ford dealer to have the truck towed to their shop. We're still waiting to hear what they found out but from my research I just did on the internet it appears this is a very common and serious problem for many Ford Escape owners.

My Ford Escape without any warning suddenly stalled on a major highway. I luckily was able to coast to the shoulder of the road. The throttle control/power train failure warning light on the instrumentation panel came. I was able to restart the Escape, but it continues to stall repeatedly. Thus I am not able to drive my Escape. My auto mechanic indicated this is a known Ford issue and the replacement part is on back order due to the number of Ford Escape owners as experiencing this issue.

Turned to go up slight hill in residential neighborhood. Car would not accelerate even with gas pedal to the floor. Car shook and bucked. Was able to limp up hill in several minutes and coast down other side to rest. Dealer says it is a bad throttle body. Part is on national recall. Dealer also says part is not covered by powertrain warranty even though powertrain/throttle is the warning light that appears on dash and throttle body controls the power train. Dealer in tallahassee, fl also reported at least 2 other Escapes in shop with same problem and awaiting part.

At a stop light, light turned green got up to about 10mph and the vehicle just lost power...still at an idle in morning traffic almost hit by two cars. This is ridiculous if all of these people are having the same issue then why wont a recall be issued" I am a single working parent of three and $600 to shell out to fix a problem that Ford knows is an issue" how will I be compensated after the fact because I know sooner or later Ford will have to stop pushing all of us off.
