Driving on interstate at 55 mph when vehicle lost all acceleration. Gas pedal was ineffective. Had to coast off road, shut vehicle down, restart it and was able to accelerate. At garage was told cost of part (expensive) but part was on back order and that the vehicle was not safe to drive until it was repaired since stalling or failure to accelerate could happen again at any time, and the vehicle might not "recover".

It said electronic throttle body. Cannot get part from parts store, will try to get part from dealer. A friend of mine who use to work for Ford said that there have been 750,000 replaced throttle components for this model year. This left me in a very unsafe situation.

On the 18th of July, 2013, while driving on a major interstate in my 2010 Ford Escape, my SUV suddenly lost all throttle control and seemed to die. My wrench light came on and I was getting no response from the throttle and my engine was running roughly. I shut off the car and restarted it and tried to drive again. At 20 mph the throttle stopped working again. I was only a few hundred yards from a truck weight station and was able to crawl to the station at about 15 mph to troubleshoot the problem. I have a code reader in my vehicle and got P2111 and P2112 which is the throttle actuator control system - stuck open and stuck closed respectively. After letting the car sit for a while I was able to start it and the wrench light had gone out. I was able to go 60 mph for the rest of my 12 hour trip with no problems. Today August 6, 2013 my car did the same thing. I was hoping it was a computer glitch and that I had gotten away one occurrence, but that was not the case.

Car stalled while driving at 40 miles per hour.this situation happened after I took the car to the dealership for a fuel service. The car stalling was awful. It was the third time it happened during that week. The engine service soon sign went on after the incident. I was driving my car with my 2 years old daughter in the backseat. It was a dangerous situation. I was lucky not to be hit by other cars. I brought the car to the service again and they said it was a failure of the throttle body. They charged me 600 dollars for a replacement. I am not happy with this situation because it looked like a malfunction. The car is under 20000 miles and I keep it in tip top condition.

Driving down interstate 45 in houston, car was running, but no power from the gas pedal. Needed to coast to an exit where I stopped completely. I needed to power down the car completely then restart the car before the gas pedal worked again. This has happened twice. The other time was about a month earlier. Ford service department said it was a defective "throttle body". something like that shouldn't fail so early. I was just out of my warranty as well.

Driving down the highway, my car suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and I could no longer continue down the road. I pulled over and my car was running extremely rough. It almost felt like the car was bucking due to a novice driving a manual transmission - note that this was when I was parked as well as when I was decelerating. I noticed the orange wrench lit up on my dash and got a tow to the nearest dealership. The dealership called me and let me know it was a throttle body issue and it has been replaced. My car only had 48K on it and there is no way in my opinion that this should happen. I feel like I'm having money stolen from my wallet due to the fact Ford is fully aware of the problem but is not taking proactive steps to fix it.
