Check Fuel Inlet message came on. Mechanic researched & replaced filler neck which is what Ford suggested. It was good for a while then came on again. ....We bought a "lock" for gas inlet thinking the seal isn't working properly . That lasted for 2 fill ups. Latest attempt & theory. The outside Door for the fuel inlet has a thin flimsy piece of rubber "kind of" sealing the inlet. We put thin foam in back of the foam to "hopefully" seal the door/sensor area. So far 400 miles & no light YET. We NEED to fix this problem because it WILL NOT pass emissions inspection. I HOPE I fixed this on my own. What a WONDERFUL feature they provided that can't be fixed!!!

First time this message came on was on a road trip. Conditions outside were hot. Then, it went away and didn't come on for another year (this year). I have had the error message on consistently for about the last month, and have a reputable mechanic thoroughly test the entire fuel system it (no charge) for leaks. The check engine light finally came on, and now both the check engine light and "check fuel fill inlet" message are illuminated. The car runs absolutely fine, but it won't pass smog inspection with light illuminated.

I been having this issues with his car! Keeps popping up with check engine light and fuel inlet. I tried fixing the issue. Took it to an auto repair cost me about $900 to even try to fix. I thought it would be gone and nope again. The damn light came back on. Now I have a recall for a body throttle, and a fuel inlet that can cause a leak and cause my car to catch fire. Now I do not feel very safe with me knowing that can happen. I have an 8 month old and a 6 yr old that ride with me. Imagine how unsafe I feel knowing something is wrong.
