Escape XLT V6

  • Automatic transmission

Same problem. Steering was making a knocking noise when I turned. Very subtle. Just a little pop, especially after it sat for a while. Found a TSB and took it to dealer. They replaced steering shaft and u-joint. Picked it up, it was still making noise. I told the dealer. Guy said: "that's just an escape thing." Went to another dealer. They said, "no, this is a problem." Took back to original dealer, got a manager to take a ride with me. He told me it was a faulty gear box in the steering. He said he had one other person 6 months previous here he had to put four different gear boxes into the car before it works. It's in the shop now. Bought the car two weeks ago, so pretty disappointed and feeling like I bought a piece of Sh*t. I hope not.
