Went to close the back hatch and the rear window just exploded, shooting glass throughout my driveway and across the street. Very little force was use to close the hatch. Ford wouldn't even look at it - sent me to a auto glass shop and said my vehicle was out of warranty. Did indicate that Ford "had not issued a recall yet"

Our Ford Escape was sitting in our three-sided garage/carport and was perfectly fine in the morning. We were working outside all day doing yard work, etc. and midway through the afternoon my husband yelled for me to come down from the barn. When I arrived at the vehicle, he was very distraught over the fact that he found his treasured car with a broken rear passenger side window. Nobody had been near it all day, nothing had touched it, just the whole center of the glass was broken and shattered all over the ground (mostly outside, a little inside the car). The car was totally in the shade except the sun was on that portion of the car shining through the walk-through person size door at the side of the garage. The temperature outside was probably in the mid 60's. I don't know if the change of temperature on a faulty glass could have caused this, or what? I have read so many complaints about the rear windows but not about the side windows. I am definitely calling Ford tomorrow.
