Okay, so my Escape will every so often, at an intersection or a stop sign when stopped, the rpms will drop to 3 or 400 rpms and then struggle and fight to stay running, and it does keep running, it hasn't stalled, it will just run rough sometimes. I put a engine diagnostics scanner to the car, nothing showed up, it said there are no codes and that everything was in the clear. But that is a bunch of crap. And will only do this if you have the heater on, when it's off it will be smooth as silk. But when the heater is on and it acts up the vibration is terrible, and so is the wanting to stall. And there is only 48,300 on my car, it's still a baby yet. Why is my Escape doing this??

2011 Ford Escape Limited: Car shuts-off while driving, this occurred once in October 2014, which I regarded as "Bad Gasoline". Now the problem has recurred, as the car shut down while driving THREE times within a two hour period. After searching for solution on the internet, I came across the RECALL for the Throttle Body as a feasible solution to the problem. I referred the problem to the local dealer for Ford in Kingston, Jamaica (Kingston Industrial Garage), and they confirmed the "Recall" and advised that the part is out of stock, however they will do a vehicle scan (Vehicle Health Report, at my cost) to confirm the problem. I will get a waiver of the cost (approx. US$57) of the scan, but only if the Throttle Body is the problem.
I will post the follow-up to the scan and the replacement of the Recalled part (Throttle Body).
Cheers

This concern surfaced several months ago. Due to work commitments, the vehicle was not repaired until 4-30-14.
The day prior to the repair, the vehicle stalled (5) time in traffic (some surface streets, some freeway). Check engine light was on and gas fill light. The dealer pulled codes (P144A, P1450 and P2196). The purge valve was replaced and codes were erased. This is not only SAFETY CONCERN but also exceeding emission levels. Should be recalled!

My 2011 Ford Escape stalled on me as I was entering an intersection. I was approaching a red light at about 5 mph and before stopping, the light turned green. I proceeded forward with light acceleration making a right turn and car stalled. I had to switch quickly into neutral, turn the ignition and switch back to drive to gain power. This has happened before (somewhere between 10K and 25K miles) but I thought it was a fluke. I will be taking to the dealer.

The car stalls, surges and jerks. I thought that was how the car is supposed to be and just go with it. My husband used my car and he noticed it right away and he said I should get it fixed immediately. I have yet to bring it in, I have been living with it, I just hope I don't surge into someone or something, this could be Extremely dangerous.. I am unsure how to get around with a car in the shop, I cannot walk anywhere. Will update once I bring in for repairs.

I've had my 2011 Escape Limited for almost a year now. It started about 4 months ago, when I would go get gas or turn my car off for any reason, it wouldn't want to start back up. It wasn't even attempting to turn over. I had it in the shop 3 times. They changed the instrument cluster, starter, alternator, and finally the battery. A tow truck man who came to bring my truck to the Ford in my town said I had a bad battery because the light on it was orange. Well, the men at Ford Service said my battery was passing their test, therefore Ford would not pay for them to install a new battery. Finally, the 3rd time I brought it in, they had to find a fake junk battery to fail the test and tell Ford that was my battery so they could put in a new one. I haven't had any problems with that since they replaced the battery. However, now my car feels like its "slipping". I filled my tank ($60), got and oil change and new air filter ($50), and about an hour later it started jerking very bad, and hesitating to accelerate. Then while I was at a stop light it was jerking back and forth repeatedly very fast, and either the exhaust or engine was making a loud puttering noise. This is definitely not normal!! I love my vehicle, but I should not be having these many problems with a brand new car. I'm almost positive I bought a lemon.

My car is literally breaking down on me and it has been at the dealership several times for this issue. They told me there is a TSB out for the Throttle Body but we will have to wait for t/my car to pull a code. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL?? My car cannot go over 25 MPH! This is dangerous!
