The contact owns a 2012 Ford Escape. The contact stated that when he arrived to work and was attempting to exit the vehicle, the driver-€™s side seat belt failed to unlatch after several attempts. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he leaned the seat backward and crawled out of the seat. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact also stated that the hatchback also would not close securely. The contact stated that he disassembled the hatchback and attempted to repair the locking mechanism. The contact stated he was able to close the hatchback, but the hatchback would no longer open. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
