The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shifter cable failed. The shifter cable was replaced. The contact also advised that the battery had to be replaced because the navigation screen remained on due to the gear failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was contacted.
