For the past two years, I have to refill my engine coolant on average once a week. It drains quicker during winter months. I have brought it in multiple times but they keep telling me there is nothing wrong. This makes no sense since you rarely need to refill engine coolant this often.

I have to refill coolant every 10-14 days. The coolant indicator light comes on and it is down to the minimum level. The water pump has been replaced and did not fix the problem. There is no visible leak. Several mechanics have looked at the vehicle and cannot find the problem. It started in may, 2018 and has been ongoing since. The water pump was replaced in June, 2018.

  • 80,200 miles
2013 Escape was "routine" transmission serviced at matthews Ford in broken arrow Oklahoma on November 26,2018. After this service dealership was contacted and appt. Made to re-check because of a jerk sensation in lower gear shifts. On December 6, 2018, about 60 miles from tulsa, traveling South on indian nation turnpike to Texas, cruise control was engaged at 80mph. Approximately 20 miles later, the traction light came on. Cruise control and a speedometer did not match so cruise control was disengaged. Jerking and sputtering began and the vehicle was pulled over and turned off. At that point smoke came from the hood of the engine and fire had ignited underneath. Within two minutes the entire front end of the Escape was in flames. (video of front in flames, and a trail of fluid leading up to the burning Escape). It was completely destroyed including all content. Contacted matthewsford and Ford corporation and basically was told there was nothing they could do. Insurance adjuster had assessed that there was no way to determine the cause of fire due to the extensive damage. Matthewsford, not Ford would not take responsibility and they should have in someway. They failed immensely.

A quick internet search reveals that this is a well documented problem in several different forums, yet Ford has not taken any steps to ensure the safety of its customers. My car, in a fashion identical to the 140,000 Escapes with the 2.0L engines, stalls suddenly while driving. It does this randomly, repeatedly, and without warning. I've been fortunate so far and have had the stalling occur only in low speed situations but I understand that other owners have stalled at high speeds. My car is a 1.6L and was not included in the recall. I've had the power control module replaced but that has not resolved the problem. How many more accidents are required before all vehicles will be fixed? the check engine light does not consistently illuminate preventing dealers from pulling the error codes and safely and efficiently resolving the problem. This is incredibly frustrating given the danger of the situation and the extensive documentation on the internet and the existence and correction of an identical problem in 140,000 other vehicles. It's unclear why the owners of 1.6L engines, which clearly suffer the same flaws and risks, are subject to severe injury, immense frustration, unresolved issues and escalating costs to drive what was supposed to be a reliable, safe family vehicle.

Vehicle showed an overheating error light and began to stall in a parking lot. Hood was popped and coolant investigated. Coolant reservoir was empty. Owner walked to nearest store, bought coolant, and replaced coolant. Vehicle overheating light went away, but the check engine light stayed on. Vehicle was brought to Ford dealership for diagnosing. Dealership ran pressure test and checked for visible signs of leak. Dealership was unable to discover leak or issue. Nothing was replaced or fixed. Dealership told owner to just keep driving it as no issue was found. Owner drove vehicle for 2 more months. Upon getting an oil change, an independent mechanic said the coolant reservoir was empty and replaced missing coolant. Vehicle has 57,000 miles on it.

Loss of coolant at or near the reservoir low level light goes on about every 3 weeks. Mechanics have check system twice up to the firewall and have not found a leak/cause. The leak occurs both when the car is stationary or in motion as evident of the pool of coolant under the car in the driveway. This has been on going for about a year.

My fianc and I were pulling out of our driveway when the vehicle suddenly stalled and stopped completely. The vehicle was then hit by another vehicle the side airbag didn't deploy and my fianc is very lucky to be alive! it wasn't until we purchased this vehicle that we realized that this particular vehicle has had so many recalls. There also has been so many official stalling complaints that an investigation had beeen necessary! since the accident, the stalling issue has not improved but worsens and is now stalling everytime we put gas into the vehicle. It stalls and won't start again. He was driving on a major highway; upon exiting the highway the vehicle stalled and shut completely off at the highway exit ramp luckily he was able to pull the vehicle off on the shoulder or he would have been involved in yet another accident and potentially killed! Ford really needs to address this problem! these vehicles have been well maintained and from what I have read most are having this same issue from the beginning of owning the vehicle. When my fianc was injured in the first stalling accident we weren't the owners of the vehicle, my aunt was allowing us to borrow her vehicle and she recently sold it to us; now that we own the vehicle we realize that the accident could have been prevented and should have! also I understand the side airbag not deploying is another recall issue that hasn't been addressed with our SUV!

When driving this vehicle, it ser me like it is not running right, and think it is going to die on us in traffic. The front seat belt does not go back in the area where it belongs and sits on the front seat. The passenger driver side door does not close right when you open it. It will stay open until you push the handle down and then it will close and lock. We are afraid to travel long distance with the vehicle because of the way the car acts and run. We just want it fix or replace vehicle.

I have a 2013 Ford Escape 1.6 eco boost. First issue was a faulty water cooling valve code P26B7. Replaced the valve and 2 days later the low coolant light came on. Topped off the coolant level and about 2 days later the coolant level light comes back on. My VIN isn't covered by the recall, but the symptoms are the same as multiple coolant leak recalls.

Car is stalling out at low speeds, parking lots, lights, does'nt matter if it is hot or cold outside heater on or off, the last time it stalled out I was in a 45 mile zone and just cut out on me, I got to the center turn lane and got my flashers on, I had to get it to a stop, the worst part is not being able to steer it. I got it in park and it finally restarted and I was able to pull in to parking lot. It was raining and I could see a car coming in behind me, thank god it started right backup again. Thought I had got some bad gas with water, ran the car to almost empty 2 times and put in gas treatments and the most expensive gas, didn't help. I also am getting low engine coolant even though I fill it every week. This started last winter, I don't get the warning during the summer only winter with the heater, Ford supposedly fixed this when they found a leaking hose $812 dollars later still have to add coolant and still stalling out on me. I mentioned the recall and they told me my VIN number was not included. Ford mentioned new spark plugs and air filter, the only thing is I am not getting check engine code or light, just stops. Talked with numerous mechanics and they all say if it was spark plugs etc, I would get a misfire code of some king. Changed the air filter which it was long since I done this. Looking into getting spark plugs changed but don't think that's the problem since I am not getting check engine light. Think something else is wrong

Takata recall: While my vehicle is in motion the heat is coming out normal but will start to smell like something was burning but as I slow down or come to a complete stop the car starts blowing very cool then the tempature gage moves to H then the safety light pops on showing "overheating stop safely" but the car will never show any smoking from the hood. The car has been doing this for the past month until 12/17/2018 I started the car up to warm it before I left work, and it wouldn't defrost and immediately the temperature gage moved to H and on the dash it said overheating stop safely and the car wasn't in motion neither had it warmed up properly but when the light went off I was able to drive, as I approached my destination the car started slowing down on its own and the safety light came on again that's when the burning smell started getting stronger and it wouldn't let me give the car gas to go the odometer wouldn't move pass 5miles so I stopped the car and shut it off, but then when I started it up again before work the car would allow me to shift gears but not give it gas due to the car saying it's is overheating but the vehicle has never had a leak and has not physically showed leaking on to the ground I have had oil and fluids changed by professionals and authorized dealerships like valvoline and where I purchased the car and nothing was ever reported to me of a leak any where but somehow my coolant reservoir is staying empty after being refilled. I believe the only place the fluid could be leaking is within the motor because I have parked the car in several dry spot and it showed absolutely no leaking signs.

Vehicle consistently displays low coolant warning and visual checks confirm low coolant levels. Vehicle experiences intermittent sudden overheat warnings with rapid temperature gauge rise, resulting in the vehicle stalling while in motion. Temperature bypass/diversion valve recall was performed earlier this year, but the problem persists. The last event occurred in heavy mid-town moderate speed (35mph) traffic, less than 5 minutes after start-up, and nearly resulted in loss of vehicle control.

2013 Ford Escape has been leaking coolant over the past few months. I have been filling it and the coolant low indicator continues to come on in increasing frequency. Today(12/20/2018) it came on while driving, started to shake, displayed overheating, and then stalled on the side of the road. Filled it with coolant and it was driveable again. I read that this is currently under investigation and beg that a recall will be issued to include the 2013S along with the 2014 and newer Escapes.
