While leaving the grocery store, my 2013 Ford Escape S, when I started it showed the fault -??Steering assist fault service required-??. The steering wheel was hard to turn, so I turned the car off and restarted the car. The message was gone and my car-??s steering was back to normal. I called the Ford dealership and told them about the problem and they said there is no recall for this problem. My car has barely 64K miles on the odometer. I-??ve read many customer complaints about this issue and Ford has done nothing about this. This is a safety concern regarding the loss of power steering and could possibly cause someone to have an accident or even kill someone. I don-??t wanna spend thousands of dollars to repair something that should be recalled and be fixed by Ford free of charge.

I was driving off when a Steering Assist Fault Service Required message appeared on my dash. I could no longer control the steering wheel and got really hard to move. I had to put it in reverse and leave it where it was parked, since it was a hazard not being able to move the steering wheel left or right.

I was pulling out of my street onto the highway when my power steering went out. No warning lights or anything, just took everything I have (as a young female) to turn it and then pull over. Took it in to the dealership and they said it needs to be replaced and that it happens to these cars. $3,100 to fix it! I had to actually go sifting through the info and settings to find the alert that the steering assist had an issue, it didn-??t even tell me. Luckily nobody was immediately behind me on the highway, it could have been really bad. Overall very scary and very unimpressed this has happened to others and Ford hasn-??t done anything about it.

My car was functioning properly and one day I received an error code that said power assist fault. When I began driving I realized that my car had essentially lost it's power steering. The car became extremely difficult to drive. After driving a bit the power steering would randomly begin to work again. I was driving on the interstate and I found that many times, while going around a curve, the steering wheel would lock up. Then the wheel would become loose again. I have needed to use the car since that time and these problems persist.

Power steering stopped working while driving in jacksonville, fl. The vehicle is very hard to steer, especially when driving slow. We bought this 2013 Ford Escape sel brand new in 2013 from parkway Ford in dickinson, North Dakota. I have read online that many other people are having the same issue with their power steering going out. The code on my vehicle is: U3000:53-C8 from a code reader. The vehicle failed after filing with fuel, but after shutting down and restarting it was fine again. Later the next day it went completely out after starting the vehicle.

Since I purchased my 2013 Ford Escape, I have had 5 recalls that were fixed to my satisfaction at kunes Ford. My most expensive repair was for replacement of the steering rack assembly on july20, 2020 at a cost of $2400. My mileage at this time was 55,602. I encountered two incidents where my steering wheel froze. I was parked at this time and it corrected itself. The following day it occurred again and I got an error message 'power steering failure.' Fortunately, this happened while I was parked. I have seen numerous complaints that this happened to others while they were driving. I contacted Ford and kunes and was told that there was not a recall on the Escape, although other owners of the Escape have had this problem. Kunes told me that they have seen this problem with other Escapes that they repaired as they did mine, and can't understand why Ford has not recalled these vehicles for the problem I experienced. I researched further and there were recalls for this same problem on the 2013 F150, Focus and Taurus. This expense was a hardship for me and my husband. We are retired and on a fixed income. I called and sent a letter to Ford and they said there was nothing they could do because there was no recall. I fortunately was not injured but am concerned that they do not take responsibility and warn other owners.

I went thru the car wash and tried to put my car from neutral to drive and the gear jumped into park jaming the transmission into reverse. Then I lost all power, I couldn't start my car and began to be rear ended by another car wash customer. I had to habe the car towed for repairs & rent a car until repairs were completed. I researched and found there are recalls from Ford on the transmission shifter cable. Ford refused to acknowledge the recall for my vehicle. I was told to pay for repairs and "if" a recall comes available then I would be compensated. Thank god I wasn't driving on the highway at the point this bushing broke loose! this is a hazard for more than a few 2013 Ford Escapes and should have been included in the list of VIN# for the recall. Very unsatisfied from the Ford company.
