Mounting screw(s) that hold the interior panel to the rear hatch door, located at the handle used to close the hatch, disengage and fall out. Screw heads are torque tip, course thread screw. Dealership reinstalled the screw. Screw failed again after another 6,000 miles, which I reinstalled myself using an estimated torque of 100 in/lb. fix worked until 20,000 miles, screw fell out and still missing. I rented a similar escape in Florida and the entire panel fell off when I opened the hatch. I. Talking with rental car companies and other escape owners, the issue is common occurrence. Vehicle now out of warranty, ergo, I will engineer my own fix using aerospace standards. This will require riveting a locking anchor nut assembly into the frame and using an MS type fine thread screw, lubed with anti siege lubricant.
