Have a 2.0 L Turbo that began idling rough after starting. One day I smelled a chemical smell when getting out. Then had plumes of steam coming from the exhaust which may have not noticed if wasn't stopped. Took it to the Ford dealership where purchased it new. Was told it could be cracked head gasket, and may require anything from replacing turbos to the entire engine. New engine quoted at $9700, and the total cost for everything, should it be required, is $13,000 CAD.
The reason I, for the first time, ever bought a new vehicle is to not have these types of issues. At a gentle, non-towing, take my kids around town 114,000 km seems a bit outrageous to have to basically buy a new car. I should have kept my old beat up Chevy truck of over 200,000km. I realize things can go wrong in any vehicle, but at this age, it is not right that I could have nothing of value (or a minimum cost of approx $4000), for something that has nothing to do with my actions. I realize there was a recall for the 1.6 L, but has anyone had this issue with the 2.0L??
