A dozen times now when we start it up it run real ruff and will lurch, the rpms go up but not mph being gained. I have to pull over and turn it off and restart and it runs fine. We get a message that reads "engine fault service now". when we take it to the dealer they can't fine any errors on when they hook it up to their computer. This has happened multiple times within the last week and over the almost 4 years I've owned the car. I was driving it on a city street and had just backed out of my drive way, other times it's happened has been on city streets shortly after pulling forward, and those times I had not backed up at all prior to it doing it. This morning when it happened I almost had someone rear-end me because my car would not get above 5mph. I had driven about a block from my home before the error message came on and was forced to pull over. Thankfully I wasn't on the highway yet.

Shifter cable broke. We were unable to shift transmission after pulling vehicle in parking spot. We had to have vehicle towed to repair facility and have shifter cable replaced at a costs of $526.40. We also have another outstanding complaint filed for wiring harness being too short and we had to pay for new splices that our VIN was not covered by a current recall. We ask that NHTSA looking into the status of that complaint for our refund as well as this one that there again appears to be a current recall for, just not for our VIN.

Shifter cable disconnected from transmission. Vehicle was park and would not move due to cable being disconnected. Towed vehicle to dealer and shifter cable replaced to repair it. Ford says my vehicle not covered under current recall so I was forced to pay for repair. Shame on Ford for not taking care of this properly.

Shifter cable bushings. 2014 Ford Escape. NHTSA recall # 18V471. Ford recall # 18S20. Gear shifter moves to park, but does not register on drivers console. Cannot start car car drifts without emergency brake applied. Car had to be towed to dealer. Dealer acknowledged it was the recall issue, but since Ford has not issued the parts yet there are making me pay for the repair until Ford sends out a letter informing consumers that parts are available. I spoke with Ford they told me I had to keep the repair invoice and get reimbursed when parts are available. My question is, if the dealer can fix it, why can't Ford authorize payment, so I do not have to pay out of pocket. If Ford issued a recall and people are already having an issue why don't they just pay to have it fixed. The dealer wants $1000 to fix this. Ford should take responsibility for this.

Parked my car put it in park but when I took my foot off brake and started open the door the car rolled forward. I put on the brake and parking brake but shifter was froze in place. Contacted local Ford dealership and Ford Corp both said there aren't any parts to fix car and didn't offer a loaner. Local Ford showed me how to put bushing back on peg so car could be driven. I'm 63 year old woman car repair not my wheelhouse. I feel car is dangerous and shouldn't be driven. Ford is putting me at risk physically and open to accidents and lawsuits by not offering a repair or a loaner car.

The car was parked at a gas filling station to fill the gas tank. When attempting to leave the gas station, the car registered being in reverse and would not start. Upon examination, it was determined the bushing on the transmission and would no longer shift gears. In order to move the vehicle, the transmission needed to be shifted with one person manual held the shifting cable onto the transmission while someone in the vehicle moved the gear shift. As the gears were shifted, the person holding the cable in place made sure that it did not pop off so that it could be moved into gear. If the person did not hold the cable down, it would not shift gears. We were able to get the vehicle home and repeat the process to get it into park. The car is not safely able to be driven in the condition it currently is.

My car, a 2014 Ford Escape [xxx], is subject to recall for shifter problems. The vehicle failed to shift out of 'park' on July 22, 2018 at the church parking lot while in motion and it needed to be towed since it turned off and wouldn't turn on. I had the car taken to the dealer, galpin Ford in van nuys, ca and discussed this with [xxx], and [xxx] the service manager. He said that the problem is with the shifter cable bushings in which theres a recall for. He advised me that that replacement parts for the recall are not yet available. He said that they can do a temporary fix of the shifter cable, but that I need to pay $600 for that temporary repair which he advised is necessary to make the car operative until the parts arrive. In my discussion with Ford chat earlier today, carissha advised me that a recall repair like this should not involve a cost to me. The problem of the absence of replacement parts is understandable, as it is a recent recall. However, because of the failure which led to the recall, I should not have to pay for a 'temporary' fix. If the concern of galpin is that Ford will not reimburse for the repair costs done at this time, please contact leonard and john and provide them with the necessary assurance. I am unable to operate my car or to get it repaired because of this impasse. Now I spoke with [xxx] from service at sunrise Ford in North hollywood, ca and he said he can fix it without a cost for me if Ford provides an authorization code and for me to file a complaint. Posting date: July-29, 2018 (Sunday) vehicle : 2014 Ford Escape titanium 4X4 (4-cylinder turbo engine, automatic transmission) vehicle loses transmission power. Three weeks ago I came out of a freeway and tried to make a right turn on a fast moving local road. I made the turn and pressed the accelerator but the car would not move. The engine revved up but there was no motion. I had to immediately turn on the hazard flash lights to warn approaching vehicles behind. Finally I pressed the accelerator "slowly" and the car did move and pick up speed. There were no further issues that day. I had sensed "bumpy gear shifts" and "jerky accelerations" even before the above incident. I instinctively "knew" that things were not right but did not know exactly what it was. Two days ago my wife called me at work and said that after backing out from the garage, the car was not picking up speed. The "check engine" light had also come up. She somehow limped slowly back into the garage. When I returned home, I tried it too. I found that only the "rear drive" was working. The "forward drive" hardly worked. Often while in "drive" mode, the car rolled backwards on our mildly sloped driveway! using "the lowest gear" I somehow put it back into the garage. Yesterday I got it towed to the nearest Ford dealership. Being a Saturday, they could not do anything more. They said they will look into it tomorrow (Monday). I consider this to be a major safety issue. I am lucky that I did not lose complete power on the freeway and nothing bad has happened so far to me or my wife. Reading about others' experiences on the internet on the same model year vehicle, it seems that they might have faced much more dangerous situations. Please investigate this problem seriously and notify the vehicle manufacturer.

The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer. The vehicle was taken to bob utter Ford-Lincoln (2525 texoma pkwy, sherman, tx 75090, 903-892-3555) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty, but the vehicle was not repaired. I have a 2014 Ford Escape with 111,000 miles and was just told entire transmission needs to be replaced. I have read many complaints about the current Escape vehicles needing transmission replacements with low mileage. I understand the power train warranty has expired, but for a transmission to last no longer that 4 years 111,000 miles is a dis-service to the consumer and their needs to be a recall on this model. Vehicle starting hestitating during acceleration a few days prior to having in looked at but no error codes were found on the engine or transmission. The day after picking up the vehicle the vehicle starting shifting erratically and then a transmission fault light came on and I had to have the vehicle towed to a Ford dealership on Friday 7/20 and was told today 7/23 the entire transmission would have to be replaced at a cost of around $5000. This is unacceptable in my eyes.

On 6/6/2017 my wife's Escape was in park on a slight incline and it rolled backwards and struck another vehicle. We contacted Ford about it never heard from them. Now we hear about a recall on the Escape and Ford is saying they have no record of a recall on her vehicle when everything I find online it is under the time that Ford had bad parts. You are my only help where do I go from here.
