UNKNOWN SSM 48397 SSM 48397 - 2013-2015 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC - 1.6L GTDI, 1.5L GTDI, Or 2.0L GTDI With DTC P00C6, P0087, P008A, P008B, P018C, Or P018D - FLP Sensor Available Some 2013-2015 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC with a 1.6L GTDI, 1.5L GTDI, or 2.0L GTDI may exhibit a lack of power, loss of power, or stall when placed in gear with DTCs P00C6, P0087, P008A, P008B, P018C, or P018D. If normal diagnosis leads to a biased or failed Fuel Low Pressure (FLP) sensor, the sensor is available without the need to order the entire fuel line assembly. The FLP sensor, located on the fuel supply line to the high pressure pump, provides the low side fuel pressure input to the PCM so the Fuel Driver Module can be controlled accordingly. The FLP PID can be viewed in the Datalogger and then compared to a manual pressure gauge per pinpoint test HC in the PCED to validate the sensor is working properly. The Fusion/MKZ catalog has been updated to show the sensor availability.

The gear shifter bushing separated from the transmission and would not engage the transmission. The car, luckily, was in Park. There was a previous recall in 2018 that supposedly fixed this problem, but I now have the car at Ford trying to get the issue resolved. It appears this same problem is being discovered on later model Ford Escapes and other models. Here's an excerpt of the recall from the Ford site: DEARBORN, Mich., July 18, 2018 -?" Ford is issuing two safety recalls in North America. Details are: Select 2013-16 model year Ford Fusion and 2013-14 Ford Escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. Ford is issuing a safety recall in North America for approximately 550,000 2013-16 model year Ford Fusion and 2013-14 Ford Escape vehicles to replace shifter cable bushings. On affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may detach from the transmission. A degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission may allow the transmission to be in a gear state different than the gear shift position selected by the driver. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to -??Park-?? and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in -??Park, -?? with no warning message or audible chime. If the parking brake is not applied, a degraded shifter cable bushing that detaches from the transmission could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Wife was driving car and just stopped going up a hill. Car was on and transmission was in drive, but when she pressed accelerator, it would Rev up but not go anywhere. Had to be towed home. This is an ongoing problem with the transmission in these models. I have no idea why there has been no recall. This is extremely dangerous. Please make Ford recall these transmissions. They are already being sued for the same transmissions in other vehicles. Thank you

Extremely dangerous: car is stalling while driving. Typically, this issue occurs when starting my vehicle and pulling out into the road. Majority of the time this has occurred in smaller/neighborhood streets without much traffic. However, there have been a few times this has occurred when pulling out into traffic, or worse: trying to make a left and being stuck in on-coming traffic. This issue has been on-going for over a year (date of the first occurrence reported below), but is very intermittently occurring. I have taken my vehicle into a mechanic and Ford certified dealership, and no codes show up. I-??ve left my car with the dealership to attempt to recreate the issue, and they-??ve been unable to. This has occurred at least 50 times by now. I-??ve found plenty of forums of reports of the same issue occurring. One reference with hundreds of comments of people searching for answers how to fix the issue: https://www.fordescape.org/threads/engine-stalling-or-cutting-out-while-driving.22274/ Luckily, I have been fortunate to not have had an accident occur because of this malfunction-??yet. There has never been a recall for this issue, and Ford should be held accountable. This is a very dangerous hazard!

I was driving my 2014 Ford escape and it was cold temperatures but I came to a stop sign and when I went to go it was like I was in neutral it would not move it had never done this before and I was pushing the gas and the engine just raced. I turned the vehicle off and restarted and it went like nothing had happened. But as I'm driving it started slowing down and like it was stopping but it was still running, I continue pressing the gas showed I had 6000 rpm and was only going 31 mph, started jerking and I pulled over shut the engine down and repeated it again until I was able to reach my destination. I tried moving my vehicle and it didn't want to move shut it down about 6 times and restarted and eventually able to get it to move but am afraid to drive because it has never done that and I was in A LOT OF TRAFFIC with no warning of any issues.

Vehicle would shift hard. Eventually the vehicle would rev rpm's but not shift into 1st gear and engage. There was no warning light. Initially the vehicle's gas pedal would depress without driving. Slowly the vehicle would creep into 1st gear but not drive faster than 2 mph. Turning the vehicle off and on and waiting 5 minutes allowed the vehicle to drive for a short time. The vehicle completely stopped shifting and had to be towed. Ford Dealers said they couldn't get the car in for service for over a month. This is my only vehicle. I need to get to work. I've had to rent a vehicle for over 5 weeks. An independent transmission shop is putting in a remanufactured trans for $4,700. The vehicle had trans failure at 122,000 miles. This trans shop had 4 other Ford Escapes in for transmission replacements; all were the body style of my 2014 Escape SE. There are many transmission complaints with the 2014 Ford Escape body style car. Please force Ford to recall and repair/reimburse for this awful transmission.

After accelerating from a stoplight on a 55mph four lane highway, a thud noise came from under the hood, the RPMs went all the way up, and my car started accelerating and lurching forward before finally falling to a cruise. The gears shifted in a wild manner for 15 seconds while the car continued to cruise and I tried to slowly accelerate to keep up with the speed of traffic. I was able to pull into the right lane of the shoulderless road, turn off and exit the vehicle and get myself to safety. The road has lots of industrial facilities, so lots of trucks and commuters alike, so while standing there waiting for the local PD there were several close calls with people slamming into the back of my stopped and stalled out car. Had the car in front of me rapidly decelerated while my car was mysteriously accelerating, I could have easily rear ended them. Further, with my car stalled out in the middle of what is a shoulderless busy highway, there was a huge opportunity for either me or somebody else to have been involved in a tragic crash involving a disabled vehicle. My car was towed to a repair shop nearby and they were able to replicate the result. They advised to take it to a Ford dealership which is where I had it towed next. The dealer confirmed the torque converter failed and caused debris (metal fragments) to enter and essentially destroy the transmission. Police helped keep my vehicle and I safe with their lights and helped me push my car to the nearest cross street to wait for a tow truck. They did not investigate the issue, but one independent mechanic and the Ford dealership service tech did. There were no warning lamps, engine lights, or other symptoms prior to and during this event. Only after I stopped in the middle of the road did the standard check engine light come on. The torque converter issue is known by Ford after speaking to their corporate "Customer Care" team, and I (and others) are lucky to have avoided serious injury/incident

Recall 22S43 is serious enough for Ford to "ground" the vehicle for safety concerns for potential injury to the driver, passengers, and bystanders. I spoke with their recall department on 11-21-2022 and explained that the car is on the Island of Molokai, HI, which does not have a Ford dealer. Rather than authorize a local repair shop to fix the problem, they said I'd have to ferry the vehicle to Oahu at my expense, a very complex, EXPENSIVE, and time-consuming undertaking. And, since I live in AZ, I'd have to fly to HI, rent a car, and spend at least a week there. Why Ford will not authorize a local mechanic to affect repairs is baffling and presents a dilemma for me and the other Ford Escape owners on the island.

I was driving down the road and the transmission slammed into the next gear so I took it to the garage and they plunged it in and said it was a incorrect gear ratio in between 5-6 not to drive it that the transmission will go out and someone might hit me and I have small kids that ride with me so I am afraid they may get hurt or killed now it sits at house and I have a bank payment on it. A friend of mine has the same thing and his was recalled in June but my number did not make it in the recall can you please add it to the recall so I can get it fixed and drive it and my family be safe in it.
