It started to act like it was stalling out so I stopped on the side of the road and opened the door to listen. The car was in gear but the brake peddle was pressed all the way down. When I opened the door the panel came up with a warning saying the "Transmission not in Park press Ok". So I pressed Ok and closed the door. I drove forward a few inches, listening thru the window with the door closed. It still wasnt acting right so I stopped in the middle of the road, moved the gear shifter to Park and noticed the drivers panel indicated the gear the car was in was Neutral even though the shifter is in Park. I got out of the car and moved it out of the middle of the road and it went over a small hump I couldn't see, and slid into a fence. I spent the next 25 minutes trying to rock the car to either move backward or forward and away from the fence, obtaining a few bruises (nothing serious) in the process, and was unable to move the car on my own. I had to engage the parking brake, lock the car, and started walking to look for help or cell phone service, as I had none where I was. After a stranger stopped to help get it off the road completely, I watched YouTube videos of easy fixes for the problem and found a video explaining how to "push" the neutral safety locking switch, inside the dash surrounding the gear shifter, tried this remedy and it allowed the gear shifter to move and shift into Neutral or any of the gears below (ND12) but will not shift into Park or Reverse. I had someone follow me home and got the car to my house after it happening one more time on the way. The soonest my local Ford dealership could get it in for service is September 8th (roughly 3 weeks after onset of issues and immobilization). I spoke to Customer Service and they told me the car would have to be diagnosed as due to the recall. There's no remedy until hopefully Oct2022 and wont provide a rental until then. Said we'll see what programs I qualify for even though I owe $3400 on my loan.

My transmission shifter cable bushing failed while on a car ride home with my son leaving me stranded 96 miles from home. I had to pay $450 to tow it home. Ford doesn't have any parts to fix my vehicle that I can not drive and only recommends I rent a car until October. I can not afford this as I am a single mom and teacher....school resumes in 2 weeks.

One day after a scheduled oil change my Escape idled very rough upon start up. The check engine light came on. I returned to the Dealer and they found the code was for the cylinder 1 misfire. the code was cleared and reported to me then it did the same thing for the next several days but no check engine light would come on. Today, upon start it idled rough and "Low Coolant require service" message popped up on my dash. Having pressure tested tomorrow to see if coolant is leaking into the cylinder.

March 9, 2022 I was driving my Ford Escape (Titanium AWD 2.0 eco boost 83083 miles )on hwy 20 in Niceville Fl. Without warning the vehicle stop acceleration at 45mile per hour. As I stopped applying pressure to the throttle the vehicle rpms continued to over rev on their own but the vehicle was not moving and the transmission was not engaging or shifting. I pulled over into the nearest AUTO ZONE STORE, where a tech gave me a fix finder report with codes P0751 SSA PERFORMANCE STUCK ON OR OFF MOST Likely POWER TRAIN SYSTEM. I had my vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership in Crestview Florida. They kept the car for a week then told me to take it to the Gary Smith Ford in Ft Walton Beach Fl because they didn't have any mechanics to work on cars. Had it towed to Gary Smith FORD where it has sat in their pkg lot for the month because they say they don't have mechanics either who can work on transmissions or cars yet. The safety issue is that it literally shuts off and doesn't accelerate creating a dangerous situation while driving. I was almost hit from behind with no way to drive out of the situation.
