The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 2 - 25 MPH, there was an unknown grinding noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed the failure to be a rear axle failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
