I have experienced on three occasions that this vehicle will missfire, shudder , stumble and almost shut off while attempting to merge onto a freeway with other cars bearing down on me at 70 mph. The last time the problem happened I almost caused a wreck as my vehicle showed an inability to reach merging speed, almost cutting off, and forcing me to limp onto the shoulder of the highway.
Several issues have been identified with the Ford EcoBoost 3.5L motor which describe in an identical fashion what I am experiencing with the Ford Ecoboost 2.0L motor. The issues appear to revolve around condensation build up within the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN IN HIGH HUMIDITY AND RAINY CONDITIONS. All three times this has happened to my new 2014 Ford Escape Titanium it has been in rainy, high humidity conditions!
This is a significant safety hazard when attempting to merge into highway traffic and your car refuses to accelerate!!

Frustrating because it happened a month after I bought the car used. So expensive and annoying. Make sure they replace the coil packs when they do it or you will be back to replace it all later!
