I would like to voice concern about the 2 pc lugnuts that Ford places on vehicles. They are not good & after doing some research & talking with other Suppliers and Companies regarding this matter, it is my understanding this is an ongoing issue that Ford continues to ignore. This is not safe. My tire had a slow leak in it. I took it to a local Tire shop who advised the Tire could not be fixed because the tear was in the sidewall. They also advised the lugnuts were swollen & in terrible condition & then went on to show me the lugnuts & educate me on the design that Ford has. The reason for the terrible condition is likely because the nuts have to be beaten off unless the work is done at Ford, as they have special tooling & capabilities to deal with the nut. He also advised, instead of recalling, Ford opted to come out with a special tool or tooling that is specific to only their Dealers. Not ok. Not all people want to use Ford for their tire needs. Nobody should ever take one opinion at face value. I went to another local tire shop to make sure the info I was given about my tire AND the lugnuts was correct. However, when I went, I made no mention that I already had the first opinion, nor did I share any of the info with the 2nd Company. Same information was repeated to me, both about the lugnuts & my tire. Very concerning on the lug nuts & I now believe this to be accurate. This place felt so bad for me & for the condition the nuts were in, that they put gently used ones on 1 of my tires, free of charge, just because they had the tire off to look at it & knew the Ford ones were total "garbage". As of today, I went to my local Ford dealer for a tire rotation & oil change. Low & behold, they mention all of my lug nuts are swollen & that I need new. I voiced concern to the Service Manager about the lugnut information. He & the Service Advisor both advised that yes, this was an ongoing complaint & it was bad for them too. This is ridiculous & i complained to Ford also.

Pirelli tire type P235/50 ZR18 97W right rear tire blew apart while driving at a steady 65 mph on a straight section of the garden state parkway. The car began to veer from side to side but I was able to coast to a stop at mile 119.9. called aaa & they sent repairman from P&J towing to change to the spare. Tire was purchased from holman Ford, turnersville, NJ. When contacted they directed us to contact pirelli. When contacted, pirelli told us to have Ford ship the failed tire to them so "their lab" could examine it. I informed the pirelli representative I was concerned about the other 3 tires on the car failing in the same manner but he offered nothing. I was told to purchase a replacement and they would offer a prorated refund. The tire was given to Ford to ship to pirelli & replacement tire was purchased at a cost of $200. I am still concerned that the other tires could fail similarly. I have attached pix of the failed tire and data from other tires purchased as part of the original set.

Continental contiprocontact 235/50R18 97H dot: 431pwbk32014 20K on 2 yr old purchase new 2014 Ford Escape titanium. Tire treads have chunks missing all over 2 tires, previously on rear tires now rotated 1000 miles ago to the front. Unsure how long this has been going on since I can't see my treads normally but I happened to have had my steering wheel turned out and noticed this scary defect. Normal use is on city streets, black top. Rarely on a gravel road. I have pictures and I hope I can upload them as I continue on through this form.

Brand new tires on a brand new 2015 Ford Escape titanium. The tires on this new car are the Continental contiprocontact. The right rear tire had a flat when my wife was driving it. The flat was on the side of this tire near the rim and there was also air leaking from the edge of where the tire and rim meet. Only 1,600 miles on this car when we had this flat. Do not recall driving over anything that would have caused this. Slash/slit was on the side of the tire near the rim and then also the leak on the edge as I mentioned. I could not enter a 2015 Ford Escape titanium AWD so I had to select a 2014 Ford Escape, but our car is a 2015 Ford Escape titanium AWD.

2 tires from same lot on brand new car have been defective in one month's time, causing blowout on freeway at high speed. Thankfully, no injuries were incurred. This happened 100 miles away from nearest services, requiring tow to nearest dealership. Ford Motor Company replaced each defective tire at time of incidents; however, 2 remaining tires will not be covered for replacement until such time as they become defective. I am concerned that the entire lot number is defective and that I may incur the same problem in the future with the remaining 2 tires with possible loss of life as a result.

My rear passenger tire has a groove cut around the inside of the tire wall and in about four spots cut right down to the threads. This has caused the tire to go flat. I have photos of the tire.

Have a one month old 2014 Ford Escape with 1,380 miles on it. While driving West on newly paved I-94 in St. Clair county, my tire pressure warning light came on. Ten minutes later my rear passenger tire blew in four spots around the inside of the tire. The Ford dealer told me I ran over something and dismissed it. I've had blowouts and flat tires before but nothing where the inside of the tire fails in four places. Updated 02/11/15
