This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
Wipers began crashing into one another. Replaced both wiper motors. Driver side failed within a day.

I was driving my Escape in the rain.... That seems like something that shouldn't be an issue but in a Ford it is! The wipers were just doing what ever they wanted until they collide with each other in the middle of the window and stopped. I took it to a Ford dealership and a mechanic and they agreed it's a problem with the cars computer, but they both aren't sure how to actually fix the problem. So while they try to come up with a solution I'm stuck with a car that can't drive in the rain.... Thanks again Ford.

Driving on a sunny day and windshield come on, run fast, slow but do not respond to wiper control at all. Go to dealer and service rep sees the problem. Keep car overnight but cannot replicate problem. Service reports they have not seen this problem in the 2014 Escape. We are going out of town so left car at dealer to see if problem would present itself again. During that time they had difficulty or were unable to start car. Checked battery and it was not working properly so was replaced. After battery replaced (car still at dealers) the windshield wipers would not work at all. Checked negative battery cable and found it was defective. They believe this should fix the problem. I should pick it up later today or tomorrow. Car was at the dealers a long time but it was with my permission as we were headed out of town in a different vehicle and were hoping they could replicate the problem.
Update from Jun 7, 2016: Update: Completely fixed to my satisfaction. They removed wiper cowl and steering column trim. Tested wiper wiring circuits. Found battery monitor sensor and connector corroded. Replaced negative cable with BMS sensor. Replaced connector 1646 of Harness 14K733. It has worked great since that repair completed April 13.

Replaced wiper motor second time. This time with new one from TASCA. Failed within a day! Drive side will hang in middle of window, then when shut off and restarted, will over wipe wiper arm off windshield to driver mirror!! Requires stopping to reset wiper arm to off position. VERY unsafe when raining!!
