Transmission failure. I took the vehicle into a local Ford dealer for a recall on the shifter cable bushing and days later I experienced transmission failure for the first time, while driving. I returned to the dealer to have this checked and they insisted there was no issue with the cable bushing but the problem was inside the transmission. I decided to research issues with the transmission of these vehicles and I have found testimonies of hundreds of people online who have experienced the exact same issue with Ford Escapes of multiple years and the transmissions failing in the midst of driving, putting them in dangerous situations. Others claim to have contacted Ford and they are unwilling to do anything to fix this. I have tried to contact Ford myself and experienced the same response. This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed before serious accidents are caused if they have not been already. Unable to upload an image of the recent service note on this form, not working for some reason.

Though the vehicle indicated that it was in park, both by the VIC and the shift being all the way in the forward position, the vehicle was still rolling after my daughter turned the vehicle off. This incident nearly caused my 16 year old daughter to hit a fence. It caused her to fear driving for a period of time. I had to have the vehicle towed to Jimmy Granger Ford in Stonewall, Louisiana to have it repaired. They informed me that the vehicle required the transmission cable assembly to be replaced, part number; CJ5Z-7E395-A. The total cost of the repair was, $1075.94. This issue is eerily similar to the issues that are in the recalls of earlier model Ford Escapes and Manufacturer Recall Number 22S43.

The vehicle is showing that it is in Neutral, indicated in the VIC. However, the shifter is all the way up in the park position. Being in neutral, this allowed my daughter to start the vehicle, as soon as it was started, she took her foot off of the break and she rolled her 2015 Ford Escape into our home fence. Now she is terrified. This seems very similar to the 2013-2014 recall. When I checked this vehicles VIN, no recalls are showing required due. Dangerous!

On 12/29/2020, Angela was driving the 2015 Ford Escape with Mileage at 133926 in Beverly WV on the main street of 219/250 and the Escape suddenly lost power and slowed down to 30mph and the vehicle shuddered and shook. It picked up speed again for about 30 seconds and then lost power again, this continued for about 2 minutes and then the Escape stopped moving in the middle of the highway in front of the Elementary School and the dash stated -??Transmission Fault/Service Now-?? and Angela was suddenly stranded on the busy highway. Her husband Johnie drove his truck to the area where the Escape was setting and engine was still running but had no power to move. He turned the ignition off and restarted the Escape, the message was gone and vehicle ran and moved fine for about 30 seconds and then did the same actions again with shuddering, shaking, lose of power and -??Transmission Fault/Service Now-?? on the dash. The vehicle had to be towed to Elkins Fordland, Inc in Elkins WV. On 12/30/2020 Elkins Fordland ran the diagnostic on the Escape at the cost of $111.30, they observed transmission pump making whinning noise and vehicle wouldn-??t move, recommended new transmission per code (See attached documents and Bills for diagnostic test and replacement of transmission). On 01/01/2021 to 01/15/2021 Elkins Fordland, Inc had the Escape for transmission replacement. The cost to replace the transmission in the 2015 Ford Escape at Mileage 133926 was $5294.10 after tax. This is a Safety Issue due to the no warning of Transmission Fault and the sudden loss of power in the busy highway. The total cost of diagnostic test and replacement of the transmission was; $111.30 diagnostic $5,294.10 transmission Total Cost $5405.40 I have attached copies of the diagnostic and replacement paperwork.

My wife was driving the vehicle and without warning, the vehicle lost power to the drivetrain. Engine was running fine without issue but upon pressing the accelerator, the engine revved but no movement. No warning or noise from the transmission of a pending issue. Proper regular maintenance has been done on the vehicle since ownership on time. Vehicle had to be towed to a repair shop at which time it was diagnosed with failure of the transmission. My wife does a lot of highway driving so luckily it happened in the city close to home and not on the expressway.

The transmission shift cable fell off the transmission shift lever in the engine compartment. The plastic bushing that holds the shift cable in place is worn out or defective. Ford has a replacement part (#DG9Z-7K340-A) and a new cover cap to protect the bushing now. Wondering why this is not a safety recall. The linkage fell off while my wife was parking the vehicle in sub-zero weather. She had the shifter in park, but the vehicle was actually in neutral or reverse. The vehicles engine could be started or stopped, would not drive, but could roll. Luckily it was on level ground when it happened. Ford has the same problem on earlier year models but not on our model year. The Ford dealer told me that there were no recalls or TSBs for my VIN model.
