I bought this 2018 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0L eco boost used with 22,500 miles in November 2020. Vehicle had one previous owner and no other issues prior. In October 2022, my Ford Escape’s check engine light came on and the reading was cylinder 2 misfire. I schedule an appointment with a Ford dealership in town, and they found a coolant leak into cylinder two which required a full engine replacement at 53,418 miles. I find that a full engine replacement at 53,000 miles is absolutely ridiculous and I am very disappointed that Ford has not addressed this issue as I see on this website that many other Ford vehicles with the same engine have had this problem, including three close family members/friends vehicles. Luckily, my car was covered under extended warranty, so I did not have to pay anything out of pocket. However, if this issue were to reoccur at another 53,000 miles, my car would not be covered under warranty anymore and I would have to pay out-of-pocket. I wish I would’ve found this website sooner, and I likely would not have bought this car.
Update - As of May 2024, my Ford Escape currently has 75,000 miles (25,000 on the new engine) and I have not had any other engine issues thus far.
