Main water pump replacement, camshaft, vacuum block, and after 4300$ in repairs to this engine it still isn't passing emissions.

Escape SEL

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

Upon ignition the car would emit a large cloud of white smoke that smelled of burning rubber. This did not occur every time the car was started, but usually the first start of the day. It did not occur while the car was being driven. I had previously replaced the water pump for $2700 and decided I didn't want to find out what was causing this issue and got rid of the car. I can't believe this vehicle started having issues at only 30,000 miles. It was my first Ford and will be my last. F.O.R.D. = "Found On Rumpke Dump"(local dump where I live) OR "Fix Or Repair Daily". This car also got very poor gas mileage. If you're thinking of purchasing one of these, I wouldn't.
