Driver side door hinge welds have gave way as making popping sounds and the window does not roll down all the way.
- Lansing, MI, USA
Left Driver door making popping sound when opening or closing due to spot welds failing. Left Driver door has no catch when opening until door is completely open. Left Driver door electronics affected due to spot welds failing this includes window up/down function and locking/unlocking. Claim filed with Ford customer concern and spoke to dealer. Ford wants $2600 to repair and will contribute $900 because vehicle is out of warranty.

When opened the driver side door on July 29, 2023 my door made a horrible popping noise that is continuing every time I open or close the driver side door.
- Toledo, OH, USA
Drivers door stop latch welds failed. This severely limits smooth opening and closing of the door as it binds up while moving the door. This happened at 34,500 miles, so fortunately it will be covered by the warranty. If this poor quality manufacturing causes it to happen to the other 3 doors, who will pay for this? Please issue a recall, this is a very common problem.
- Duanesburg, NY, USA
The spot welds in the front driver's side door have failed, the door makes a loud popping noise when opening or closing the door, and the window has difficulty going up and down. The vehicle would be available for inspection. An internet search of this problem has indicated that my door could come open without warning. I have taken the vehicle to a body shop who have confirmed the spot welds have failed. The door began to make a slight creaking noise about 2 weeks prior to my noticing the spot welds had failed.

The door weld on the door is causing it to pop when you open and close the door.

In the fall of 2022, the driver door on my 2021 Ford Escape would not close properly and I took to the Ford Dealership as I told them it felt unsafe as I felt the door wanted to fall off when driving as the door was physically moving in and out. They laughed at me and said that would never happen. After two visits, they realized the weld had broken on the door and said they would order a new one. They said they had never seen that on a passenger vehicle. It took 12 weeks for the door to arrive and they first said they would cover the rental vehicle and then came back the next day and said they would not cover a rental vehicle even when I said I felt unsafe driving it. So I kept driving it because it was my only vehicle. Ford Corporate tried to charge me $571 to pay for my part of the repair. They also dismissed that it was a larger problem. I have documentation regarding these interactions. The dealer stepped in and covered my portion of the repair. After they replaced the door, I reported the door appeared to be falling of the hinges and they investigated and said because they do not replace doors at the dealership often, they improperly installed the door as one of the hinge bolts was already missing. In April, 2023, I traded my 2021 Escape in for a 2022 Escape as I did not feel safe because of the door and the dealer agreed. It cost an additional $5,000 to get out of the lease, but it was worth my safety.

I have a Certified 21 Ford Escape Hybrid - I opened the drivers side door and the 3 welds to the hinge broke. The internet stated this is a common safety issue. It was a past recall with Ford. Ford is not honoring their quality, and refuses to fix the issue. Even the dealer admitted it is a common safety issue. The case number with [XXX] / Ford Motor Company [XXX] / [XXX] will not return calls, and I've been reaching out for 2 weeks. [XXX] a supervisor admitted this was a recall issue but my car escape isn't on the list... The dealer is trying to charge over $4000 to repair 3 welds. Please help, I don't feel safe with the door broken INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

At 38,000 miles I got into my car and it started making a popping noise on my drivers side door when opening it and closing it. After further inspection, I cannot put my window down and I am met with resistance whenever trying to open or close it. This poses safety concerns in the event of a car crash. Apparently this is not a recall item at this time and I am awaiting my dealership to even see if it-??s covered as it is past 36,000 miles.
