Ford Escape 2005, purchased used at Milnes Ford in Lapeer, Mi.

It started as a clunking noise in the right rear of vehicle; I couldn't see anything, as the week went on it got louder and louder. By the end of the week I was afraid to drive, I finally looked above the rear tire and the whole area to my surprise was rusted out. I looked at the other side of vehicle and nothing. The whole right rear shock mount in the wheel well (right side) had completely rusted through. I was afraid to drive. I started googling and now to my surprise I am not alone. What is Ford going to do? The engines good, was driving fine until this. I want Ford to take care of this, are they waiting for people to get hurt? This is Very Serious!! Why isn't this a recall?

THE 2001-04 ESCAPE RUSTED OUT REAR SHOCK SUPPORT WAS RECALLED BUT NOT THE 2005 WHICH HAS THE SAME PROBLEM... FORD DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AFTER IT WAS RECALLED.

THEY HAVE REFUSED TO REPAIR MY 2005 CAR

I NOTICED THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND CAUSE A IN A FATAL ACCIDENT

rear broken shock mount

We had no idea about the development of this issue. Earlier this week she said it was riding rough, and then decided to check. Lo and behold it was a terrible issue! We were barely able to get it home as the metal was folding towards the tire and threatening to damage the tire. I went online to look for any similar issues and was shocked to see the history here. I do hope we can get Ford to do right by us all!

Right rear strut mount stripped loose from fender well. Area fully deteriorated from rust. Loud banging. Not in drivable condition. Called Ford. They claim I was the first one to call, however, there are at least 131 complaints on this website alone.
