While driving, the car suddenly started to engage the anti-lock brakes. It would drive for a minute or two and engage the anti-lock brakes again. We carefully drove it over to a shop. It turned out that rust (from salted roads in the winter) had caused a sensor to go bad on the CV axle (apparently a common problem with this model). Unfortunately, we couldn't just replace the sensor, the entire CV axle had to be replaced because it came as a unit. An annoyance, but pretty quickly remedied. Little did we know it was only the beginning of the $13,000 in repairs this car would eventually need. Worst car in history.
