problem #2

Escape Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

APPROACHING LIGHT. BRAKES FAILED. WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE BY SLAMMING PEDAL TO FLOOR BUT HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND HIT TREE. NO INJURY, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATALITY IF AI DID NOT PULL OFF ROAD.

ABS LIGHT ON, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON, AND SERVICE BRAKE.

AFRAID TO TAKE TO DEALER SINCE THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM LISTED MANY TIMES HERE AND ON OTHER INTERNET SITES SHOW DEALER CHARGE BETWEEN $5,000 and $7,000 for repair.

OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WHICH FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS. IT SHOUKD TAKE A DEATH TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE.

Escape Hybrid

My daughters Escape Hybrid would not stop coming to a intersection so she had to use the emergency brake.

I understand Ford has changed the design for 2009 and up so if this happens at least you can still brake. wWuld really like that option for this 2007 model. Brake pressure transducer for front wheels and the system pressure seem to be what is being reported by the ABS code system. If the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) has to be replaced it could cost almost 4,000 dollars I think. I sure hope it doesn't. Code is c1478, 1480, 1311, and 1313. also got the U2023 but that is probably because of the pressure problems.
