After having the power steering module replaced with a used one. The steering failed again after barely a day. This is a widespread problem that should be included in the Ford 14S05 recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000.

Never had a problem till this one. Dealer said it was not covered under warranty.

The power steering went out completely. No warning nothing, luckily we were not on a busy street but it took two people to turn the steering wheel enough to get it to the curb. When I contacted Ford, the module that controls this particular steering case was obsolete and not offered any alternative to repairing the car.
Repairing the car will require parts purchased on eBay if that will work. I am the 2nd owner of this car and friends with the previous driver. Had I been alone on a highway or busy road the results would have been deadly. Even if it is repaired I am not sure that I could trust that it would not happen again.
This is my 4th Ford and I have always maintained my vehicles. There could be others out there driving the 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid and end up in a fatal accident. I think that there was a recall on the 2006 thru 2008 models.
This will be expensive to fix or may have to be salvaged but I think that Ford should notify anyone driving this vintage of vehicles should be warned as it did not just lose the power steering it lost all steering ability in an instant with no warning. We carry our families in these cars and I would hate for this to happen to anyone else.
Ford has always stood behind their products. Not all of us can afford brand new cars but I was getting ready to purchase a newer Escape and now I really have to rethink that.
