Escape Hybrid 2.3L

  • CVT transmission
  • 119,925 miles

Bought this vehicle used so I expect some work to be done, that's okay, but..... Ford did a recall and the vehicle was reprogramed in 2014. Turns out this was not a real fix but a stall to postpone the unavoidable electric motor failure so that it happens when the vehicle is out of warranty. Changing a $35.00 upgrade to a $2000.00 repair. Nice pay off FORD! Problem is the dealer can't do anything about it. I'm taking the job to my favourite local mechanic, Steve @ Wellington Garage in Nanaimo BC. Even if I don't save a lot, at least I'm supporting a local business. No more FORD repairs for me! I know there will be more, it is used after all. By the way Mazda Tribute (Escape twin) covered this repair.

Escape Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 180,000 miles

This car has been the biggest headache!

At the time of engine replacement, they completed the Power Steering Module recall (June 2014). Now, just shy of 3 years later, power steering suddenly gone. How much warning did I get? The 'wrench' light came on dash about 5 miles from daycare. Dropped kids off and when I restarted car... NO POWER STEERING. Good thing they took care of that recall...sarcasm What a joke! And Ford says that the only way they'd cover the power steering was if it failed within 12 months of recall being done. Way to stand behind your computer failures!!!!!
