Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

The reflective material on the door mirrors go black and you can no longer see out of them. My brother-in-law had the same year model and had the same problem. These mirrors cost $250 each to replace. This should be a mandatory recall.

My passenger mirror turned totally black, of course it wasn't covered under warranty because the motor or wiring wasn't bad, I told the service tech what the F--k good is it if I can't see out of it.

Ford denies any knowledge of this problem--yet the NHTSA website shows a long list of investigations for defective mirrors. It's obviously a manufacturing defect and a huge safety issue. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE MIRRORS IMMEDIATELY!!!

Originally reported in May 2000, Ford Pasadena was to call when parts were in, no call.

Problem got worse.

Out of Warranty - now I have to pay. Ford people react "oh its the mirrors again" They obviously know this is a problem. I wonder why there was no recall.
