Expedition XLT 4.6L

  • 52,000 miles

I was hearing some grinding in the rear differential and took it to the local Ford garage. They said that they have seen many of these and that it usually involves the clutch packs in the differential and it is an expensive problem. 8hrs of labor and parts came to over $850.00. It is unfortunate that Ford Motor Company, especially under such intense pressure from foreign auto makers would look the other way when a recurring defect comes up in one of their products. Makes me want to look at Toyotas.

I was told it needed fluid and would have to be taken to a ford dealer. What kind of fluid and can only a ford dealership do this?
