My 2004 Ford Expedition engine shuts completely off when driving at varying speeds, the speed does not matter because it shuts off at stop lights, traveling residential roads and the interstate. I was driving on 95 south between 60 -65 mph and was traveling the middle lane and the engine suddenly shut off, I experienced loss of power in the steering wheel as I was trying to maneuver across the travel lanes to make my way to the roadway shoulder as the vehicle's speed was decelerating. This was very dangerous and I risked the lives of my loved ones and others. I don't understand why there is no recall for this issue that will one day cause bodily harm to someone and risking lives of others. What will it take to get this major issue addressed?

Girlfriend driving down winding road fairly steep hill when the engine just quit, without warning....power steering , brakes all went south without power. She said the low oil pressure light came on. I got a ride to her, checked and, even though oil had just been changed at dealer, seems a bit low, so I added a quart. Engine started right back up. Made no sense, problem never found, investigation came up nothing. Now, month later, happened to me, engine just died, no warning. Oil pressure light came on but thinking only due to engine quitting. Oil level ok but this time the engine will not restart however, it stumbles a bit but will not start. Sensing fuel shut off? Nothing found in manual to help. Saga continues....need help???

Update from Oct 10, 2016: I believe the issue is fixed but because it is totally random and will restart after a wait period, I'm not 100% sure. I believe it is the fuel relay, which is a real pain to figure out. Turns out Ford put the relay into the board internal to the fuse box. I had the relay replaced and hope like heck it does not stall out again. It is VERY dangerous as I live in the hills and curves in TN.

My 2004 Ford Exp. would randomly cut off while driving. I took it to the dealership and to several other mechanics; however, everyone told me that the computer did not produce any codes; therefore, could not tell me what the issue was. They stated that in order to tell me what was wrong, that the car would have to cut off and not turn back on. Of course this never happens because the car always seems to start back up within 2-5 min. of cutting off. So, I took it to a local mechanic who was ford certified and worked on cars the old way(not depending solely on a computer for diagnoses). Come to find out the chip in my key was bad, which was causing the computer of the car not to be able to read it, which resulted in the car shutting of. I had a new key cut and re-program to my car computer and the car has not shut off since.. (total- $67.00 to diagnose.. $100 for a locksmith to cut a key and re-program it to the car computer). So after 8 months of having a broken car, I am finally back to driving my SUV with no issues.
