The contact owns a 2004 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the number three spark plug blew out of the head gasket. The spark plug ripped the treads in the slot where the spark plug was located. The contact spoke with the dealer and was told that the failure was a common issue. The manufacturer was also contacted but stated that since the vehicle was no longer under warranty, the vehicle would not be repaired at their expense. The failure and the current mileages were 107,000.

The vehicle was not destroyed nor was it taken for inspection or repairs. The cause of the fire was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 195,000.

While driving down the road, taking my son to school, I had a spark plug blow out. Immediately had to stop the vehicle and my son wasn't able to attend school because I had no ride. I have been reading online and this is an ongoing problem with Ford and am furious that nothing has been done to remedy this problem for Ford owners.

The rear A/C actuator began making a thumping noise and the rear A/C now only works when it wants to and also the heat in the rear. If you turn on the A/C sometimes heat will come out of the vents and if you turn on the heat, sometimes A/C will come out of the vents.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, he smelled a burning odor and noticed smoke emitting from the hood area. Upon inspecting underneath the hood, the contact observed an excessive amount of smoke which originated from the engine oil reservoir. There were no flames. The contact allowed the engine to cool for a period of four hours before operating the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the anti-lock brake module would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired; however the anti-lock brake sensor was disconnected. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,238.

3 weeks after 60,000 mile check up, my wife turn the vehicle on and it made a loud pop noise then engine started vibrating abnormally and making a loud putt-putt noise. She drove the vehicle home approximately 1/4 mile and it smelled like it was burning. My mechanic said, it blew out the #5 spark plug, and that this is a very common problem on a Ford Triton engine.

A popping noise from the engine and the smell of gas while driving 25mph in town. I took it to the mechanic and he said it was a spark plug ejection from the engine & would cost $1200+ to repair.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that there was inadequate sealant on the front windshield. In rainy conditions, water would leak into the vehicle. In addition, when the windshield wiper unit was activated, the windshield cleaner would also leak into the vehicle. The contact could hear a crackling sound coming from the dashboard. All the digital components on the instrument panel became inoperable due to the leak in the front windshield. The dealer stated that the windshield could be resealed at the cost of less than $100. If the windshield needed to be replaced, it would cost over $200. There were no recalls for the failure. On a separate occasion, the engine started on its own. The VIN was unable to be accepted by the system. The current and failure mileages were less than 97,000. Updated 04-20-09 updated 04/24/09.

While driving at any speed steering vibrates violently. Dealer states the steering rod malfunctioned. All 4 wheels were balanced, however steering wheel is still vibrating and noisy. Blue smoke from exhaust. No problem found. All windows slow to go down and squeaks. No problem found. Abnormal starting. Engine fan noisy. Dealer found normal operation. Clanking noise in steering column. Lower steering shaft was replaced.
