disconnect battery, so air bag doesn,t accidentally go off

remove turn signal assembly for more working room
unplug OD wire attached to lever if app
there is a pressed on retaining ring on back of shift linkage coupler lever bracket
remove carefully inter net said to use dremel to cut ring if possible
I had to beat it off with hammer and chainsaw tool using flathead part as chisel
regular screw driver handle absorbed too much of the impact
remember steering column is made of same material as broken part
so use extreme caution when hammering
remove lever with ball end from back of bracket you will need to reuse this part
new part dorman 905-104 local parts house can reference number
napa has different part #
this part is for explorer could not find any other replacement part on internet
called dorman no part number for expedition
dealer sells part as part of steering column 1500.00
no seperate part available
you need right angle snap ring pliers and some aluminum foil to make bushing
wrap aluminum foil around part until part fits fairly snug
install snap ring
reassemble steering column
not sure if the correct part is available any where at all
saved 1450.00 dollars this way
