Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission

This is the third A/C compressor that has been in this truck all of them have been brand new what a pain in the pocket book. I can tell you this as soon as I get it back I am trading it in.

Expedition XLT 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I cannot believe that the AC system had gone out twice in three years of owning this vehicle. Thank goodness I had the extended warranty! I still ended up paying almost $500 the first time and nearly $400 the second time. The second time was just out of the 12,000 mile warranty for the first fix. After sitting all night then at startup it makes a racket like a fan hitting rubber. I think it is coming from the AC system. It has done this from the day we drove it home. I expect I will have to replace the AC system again when hot weather rolls around!

Update from Mar 30, 2014: Two years later, out of warranty, AC is dead again at 110,000 miles. When it works, it makes a grinding noise on starting the engine like plastic and rubber grinding together. When the AC doesn't work, no noise. Ford really needs to fix this problem. 3 times in 7 years is not right!
